The Allen-Edmonds McAllister is the epitome of the businessman's wing-tip dress shoe. Originally manufactured in the mid 1950's, and recently reintroduced, its design stresses tradition and value without the excesses of contemporary trends. Allen-Edmonds shoes are very well made in the U.S.A, and although more expensive than many other brands, their shoes are steps above in quality, fit, and appearance. If you appreciate substance, as well as a style that endures for decades, try on a pair of McAllisters.

I got these in the merlot. Great looking shoes with a nice fit. Perhaps a bit narrow, but comfortable. Noticeable high quality. I suspect I'll be wearing these shoes for years.

Allen Edmonds has achieved a perfect Price/Quality/Style formula designed heavily with the consumer in mind. A win win win! More importantly is the Zappos Customer Service team and the way they execute quickly to support the needs of their customer base. In advance of Zappos receiving a returned item physically they (Zappos CS team) applied the advanced returned credit to my replacement purchase immediately. 5 stars to the Zappos organization! Refreshing!

Note that the leather on these shoes appears to be treated or dimpled such that they do not provide a bright lustrous shine, but only a dull shine. As with all shoes, I have found these to fit more loosely during the first week or two or wearing them as the leather stretches. While the fit and feel of these shoes seems to be very good thus far, I cannot say that they are much more comfortable than, say, the Johnston & Murphy shoes that I own. \r\n\r\nZappos continues to impress me, by processing my return of one size of this shoes that did not fit with surprising speed. I wish that more internet retailers would follow Zappos\' lead in exceptional customer service.\r\n

Wanted the A-E McAllisters to fit, but they are crafted for the narrow, long foot (like the company says). I've been an A-E customer for years & I don't think I've ever parted with a pair -- i just get 'em restored and they come back in fine shape. I suppose A-E's don't come in a wide and the soles are really not that substantial, anyway. I'll probably go to Florsheim and save about 50 bucks in the process -- maybe I'll buy a tie with the difference.

This is a very well-made pair of shoes. The leather is soft and breaks-in easily to your foot although I wouldn't plan on walking for miles in these. Very nice for formal attire. I found that the shoes run a half-size too big. I usually wear a size 10 and I had to return the size 10s for 9.5 because they were too big.

Fantastic build quality, timeless design. Well worth the higher price, especially since the whole thing can be remade at the factory. Zappos service is excellent- they upgraded my shipping at no charge and the shoes were at my house 16 hours after I purchased them.

Although incredibly well made and beautiful, this is not an easy shoe to fit nor is it immediately comfortable. The leather is of wonderful quality but thick and requires "breaking in." It is well worth the effort but don't expect immediate results.

You may be able to hear someone wearing these shoes half a mile away, but once they come into sight, you'll forget all about the "clack, clack, clack". A gorgeous, classic wingtip that should last forever.

These shoes are the most beautiful brogue wingtips on the market. Hands down. Profile, pattern, medallion on the toe, Balmoral, everything. I wish I had got a size E. They are narrow for my feet but break in nicely. These shoes must be broke in. Quality leather dress shoes are more like boots then shoes. Anyone that wears boots know, they are wonderful when broken in. I am pleased with these shoes once broken in, but they're never going to feel soft and comforting. Again, more like a boot. Finally, I wish Allen Edmonds style could be mated with Ecco comfort and soles. Then no break in would be required and the soles would not wear out.

These are very traditional shoes. I am a very traditional person. They are very well made, and doubtless they are top of the market. They were a little tight, but broke in well. The tightness could be the foot and not the shoe. Zappos is a great store. I have bought from them before and I am sure I will again.

I have worn my McAllisters for over 22 years on average about twice a week. I have worn them through rain and slush. I have gone through many soles and heels. I literally walked six miles in them today. I keep them polished, use shoe trees in them and rarely wear them two days in a row. As a result, they still look pretty good. Just an amazing shoe. They may seem just a little big for their size.

Classic looks. Very refined. I usually buy Italian and these are my first Allen Edmonds. I've only worn them a few times so far, and they are still quite hard. I've heard this is common with AE shoes. All in all, a good purchase.

These shoes are beautiful in tan and very well made. They do need a short time to break in, but after that they are very comfortable to wear. I think Allen-Edmonds craftsmanship is superior to that of Adam Derricks. The only issue I had is that I had to order the E size. Allen-edmonds has a very useful sizing tool that you should use if this is your first pair. For reference, I wear a 7 in Bruno Magli, a 7.5 in cole haan, and a 7E in AE.

I own several pairs of A&E shoes...two of these...one in black and one in cordovan. They don't require break-in, look great and are very comfortable. They can be re-crafted and should last forever.

Read the reviews first off and they really helped me gauge what size to buy. On AE shoe chart I am a 14 1/2 B width. I ordered 14 D and the shoe fits so well. The most comfortable new shoe I have ever worn. My staff could not stop talking about how attractive and professional the shoe looked.

I'll make this short and sweet. Great looking shoe. Perfect fit (if you don't measure your foot occasionally in a shoe store with a Brannock Device, don't blame he shoemaker). Superb quality leather and craftsmanship. And, on top of it all, American made at a very fair price. How can one go wrong. On top of all this, after you've worn the daylights out of them, you can send them to the AE factory for a complete rebuild and they come back looking like new for a fraction of the original cost. It's great to be able to enjoy a top quality product made in the USA and not Europe or Asia. I'd recommend this shoe to anyone.
