Alife Chuck

The Alife Chuck is a shoe of contrasts and extremes. First, it looks really good. This shoe was designed by very talented minimalist designers that have a great sense of style. The leather is also very soft. Soft as lambskin which makes the shoe easy to wear with no socks and there is a neoprene inner liner sock that also adds to the casual "no socks" approach. I really like the clean looks, soft leather, inner bootie and minimal design, but there are some negatives too that any prospective purchaser should be very aware of. First, the shoe has very little inner sole and footbed structure. This is fine for just kicking around the house, but is totally unacceptable if you are planning to go for any long walks. This is not a walking shoe but a casual knock around shoe and works fine for non strenuous activity. Also, the front toe box tapers off and is much narrower than the heel part of the shoe. It's like the toe box is a B width and the heel is an E width!? If you have wide feet or need a full toe box, this shoe will bind on your toes, thereby requiring you go up a size, but the shoe is adequately sized by length to begin with and it fits a bit sloppy and loose due to no inner sole structure so you really can not go up in size without making it just too long. So there you have it. A great looking, fine leather and very comfy knock around shoe that is totally not good for long walks, hiking or strenuous wear. The toes are a bit narrow and the heel area is a bit wide. But it looks really good on the feet. The good and the bad: a shoe of contrasts.

Style Meets Comfort - I'm a shoe head and I absolutely love these shoes. I was looking for something very stylish and unique with a very traditional look. These shoes have great craftsmanship. The parachute/nylon material is great for cleaning and makes the shoes extremely comfortable inside due to the padding. They may feel a little tight around the toes but its leaves as soon as you start walking. They mold to your foot great. I'd definitely buy them again

Fresh! Just like the last guy, I've known Alife for a while, & this was the best deal I could find. Luckily I got my Red ones when they went on sale for a day. I haven't worn 'em out yet, but when I laced 'em up they looked so much better than when I pulled 'em out the box. The one thing that could make these shoes way better than they already are, is the tongue. It's so flimsy, but otherwise, these shoes go so hard. Especially since I'm the only one rockin' em in my area. Definitely wont be my last pair. Plus they come with the little Alife keychain & 2 more laces (red, black). I recommend, if you know how to wear 'em.

The sneaks look good at get a ton of compliments. That said- the sole rubber started wearing away off the heal in a week....it normally takes months to get to that point with every other sneaker I\'ve owned. The insoles are way thin...invest in some DR Sholes or expect some sore dogs by the end of the evening.\r\n\r\nGreat leather uppers, low quality soles.

Terrible waste of money - when I got this shoe I opened the box and put the shoes on and they burst to dust. Just like poof! I didn't get one step out of them before I had a big pile of Alife bull on my feet.

Great shoes! They are pretty cool shoes! I’ve known of Alife and their Everybody Highs for a while now but this is my first pair and definitely won’t be my last. I will most likely purchase the Americas if I can find the right color. As far as these shoes go though, they are comfortable, stylish and I have gotten a lot of good comments on them. The only bad thing about them was the tongue, it had two holes for laces in it but I couldn’t figure out how it worked.

These shoes look good, they are fresh to death. Wider feet beware, they are a bit on the narrow side.

Praise for Alife - These shoes are amazingly comfortable and made of high quality materials! I love the luxurious leather and the color ways are unique. I got the yellow ones and the green ones. There are no half sizes for sizes 11 and up. I wear 11.5 and size 12 in Alife fits fine. I love Zappos unrivaled vast selection and unbelievably fast shipping! You are the best online shoe source! :)

About Alife

Alife ALIFE began in 1999 at the now legendary 178 Orchard Street boutique store in New York City. At first, it might have been easy to mislabel it as another boutique or sneaker shop, but with roots firmly set in the NYC community, ALIFE quickly established itself as something special. The owners called on artists from every corner of New York - from the Bronx to Queens, from Long Island to Brooklyn - and held a meeting to let them know that ALIFE was theirs to define. After that meeting, the 178 Orchard Street store transformed itself from a sneaker boutique into a workshop where artists and dreamers alike could collaborate and create something that was true to their lifestyle. The boutique become as much an art installation as it was a retail store, and soon, ALIFE boutiques began to spring up all over the world, from the famed Rivington Club in New York to shops in Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Tokyo.

Word began to travel about ALIFE, and some of the biggest names in the sneaker business began to take note. Soon, they were collaborating with the likes of adidas, ASICS, PUMA, Reebok, and Timberland to create truly unique footwear that simultaneously spoke of the lifestyle through special runs of ALIFE sneakers. And in a milestone 2004 collaboration with Levi's, the progressive street style of ALIFE melded with the iconic American brand to create a temporary retail installation that stood as a testament to the classic Levi's 501 jeans and the oft-envied ALIFE lifestyle.

ALIFE's collaborations reach further than the fashion industry, however. In 2006, ALIFE began to sponsor cultural events that allowed ALIFE followers to become intimately involved with the brand. A mix of culture and fashion, creative leaders and downtown New York tastemakers, these legendary ALIFE Sessions have sparked an interest in the ALIFE brand while showcasing the talents of artists like John Mayer, Q-Tip, Just Blaze, Moby, and many others.

Born from the streets of New York, ALIFE was a driving catalyst in the early sneaker culture, sparking a movement that's still thriving today. Today, ALIFE shoes have become nearly synonymous with the city it was inspired by and the like minds that shaped it, creating a lasting authenticity that shows in their collection of sneakers. In ten short years, ALIFE has showed the world what creativity, authenticity, and community can bring about in their line of shoes. It's more than just ALIFE sneakers and ALIFE shoes -- it's about being part of ALIFEstyle like no other.
