The sole was pretty stiff but I’m returning bc they rub & dig into ankles terribly.

enough stability for single leg exercises and flexible enough for sprinting/lunges - very happy with fit the back of the shoe cuts into my ankles but i hope it'll just break in with time

Bought these for my daughter who does sports agility training. She loves them. They fit perfectly 8.5 her normal size. Thanks for the super quick shipping, Zappos!

Runs small. Toe box fabric is perhaps a bit too soft

I wanted to love them but.... like other reviews noted the heap goes up high. They are also wider in the heel than all my other Nike’s and I started getting blisters within 5 mins of walking around the house

I tried this shoe in my normal athletic shoe size (7), but it felt too small, so I returned and got a 7.5, which fits perfectly! Love these shoes! They're great for CrossFit, weightlifting and conditioning.

Glad I ordered a larger size based on other reviews. Very good support for weightlifting. Improved my performance. Glad I bought them.

I was looking to buy a cross-training shoe that would allow me to move from cardio to lifting without a shoe change. But, you’ll never find one with adequate fit for both activities. So I took the plunge and bought a pair for running/cardio and a pair for lifting. I wore the Metcon 5 today for the first time while lifting and what a difference I felt! More stabilized and better support than ever before. Trainer even said he could see a difference. I always go up 1/2 size in athletic shoes and that’s what I did with these. No slipping and great fit.

I’m a CrossFitter. I had the Reebok Nano 6 for about a year and they stretched out so much that they no longer felt stable and would allow my heel to slip. The regular metcons felt too flat for me so I tried these. I love them. They lock your foot in place without being too tight. I have a slightly wider ball of my foot and slightly narrower heel. Nothing feels cramped or too wide. I also have plantar fasciitis that flares up from time to time and I feel like these have good support without having to add my own supports in them. The soles are a little flexible yet stable which is great for lifting but also short distance runs. Oh! And for trainers, they’re actually cute!

I usually don't buy Nikes, for multiple reasons and when I've tried them they usually don't fit. Also, when I was researching flat athletic shoes for the workouts I do - like weight lifting, this style did not get great reviews. It's true that the toe box is very generous, but I need this and these are incredibly comfortable, lightweight and a pleasing color (in light blue). Not super inexpensive, but not as expensive as some. So I would recommend these highly to anyone who wants or needs lots of room to wiggle toes and wants an athletic shoe for purposes other than running.
I'd also recommend:

Love this sneaker. I purchased for workout only, but they are stylish enough that I tend to wear them all the time! Great shoe for workout or everyday.

I love how these Metcon Free shoes look. I got them in black and they have a clean look. I use them for my OCR training classes and feel great when doing any squats and lunges. I would definitely not use them for running because that's not what they're for, but for your strength days, these are a great shoe to have in your collection.

If you have a high arch, do not like those memory foam flat, training shoes, these are fantastic, all around workout shoes! However, they run extremely small. I even compared them side by side to my other size 9.5, width B training Nike shoes. (I usually order a half size up from my regular size 9.) I ended up needing a size 10.5, so order multiple sizes to get it right for the lunges and squats!

Love this shoe! I purchased for my metcon/weightlifting sessions, not exclusively Crossfit. I like the plastic piece on the side to adjust tightness around the foot and the “sock” like design is perfectly snug. I have narrow feet and a high arch. I would not run in these. I always order a .5 size up in Nike.

Here’s the deal. They were comfortable on the sole, but the tongue is so high and stiff it gave me blisters on my foot. There is no way to remove the tongue or make it less annoying. Bummer, as the actual walking on them was very comfortable.
I'd also recommend:
was looking for a good CrossFit shoe. Ended up buying and loving the Minimus/Vibram.

I was disappointed to find how much Nike has changed these shoes from the original Metcon I wear. The sock like tongue is very stiff and comes up uncomfortably high on the top of the foot ... first time on, I knew I could not ever comfortably "adjust" to the new style. They are being returned and I will search for a pair of the old style.
