This shoe feels very supportive but a bit on the heavy side. I'm not a runner but do a variety of types of workouts besides that. I think I'm spoiled by the Ghost 5 which was SO comfortable, cushiony, and supportive that I looked forward to my workouts to be able to wear them! The Ravenna is harder on the bottom and the top is really light so it has a different feel entirely-probably better as a dedicated running shoe. I have to replace my shoes every 6 months to keep from getting shin splints so I got this one due to the price. It fits well so I'll keep it and give it a chance but probably will go back to the Ghost next time. Maybe by then I can get a deal on them!

My last three pairs of running shoes have been Brooks Adrenaline GTS 13s, but I have really wanted to try lighter shoes. I hoped that the Ravennas would fit the bill, but they are just too narrow. I wear a women's 10W in the Adrenalines, so I went up to a 10½ in these. Even with my usual gap lacing, there is just too much pressure and not enough support along the outside edges of my feet. I really started feeling it in my ankles. I run about 25-30 miles a week, almost always on paved paths and sidewalks. If you do not have wide feet, they are worth a try. They have a lot more heel padding than the Adrenalines and more flex in the forefoot, so they felt a lot speedier, especially on the track. Unfortunately they are just not for me unless Brooks starts offering them in wide sizes. I may give the Ghost 5 a shot, but it is probably back to my reliable Adrenaline clodhoppers for now.

Great design, love the colors! Nice support on the shoes. The only downside is this shoe causes a blister on my small toes, I think it is something about how the toe box fits? I ended up keeping the shoe and wore them for a 10K but after the race I was happy to take them off.

These were pretty great but it was between this & ASIC Gel Kayano 19 and the Asics won. But these are a close second.

I had been loyal to Saucony- began getting into shape starting with 2 mile walks, now getting into 7-10 miles with light running and thought I was happy until I tried on the Brooks Ravenna4's and they felt awesome and putting them to the test: no break in. Period...THAT is awesome! My only complaint, is that their stitching could be a little better because the mesh is already unstitched and its been less than 2 weeks- either that or that's the way it was out of the box and I didn't notice it until now. But, the comfort of these shoes are absolutely amazing and I thought I had a hard time getting the right pair of shoes. Brooks will be my choice from now on.

I loved everything about this shoe except the rocker effect at the toe. This almost provided a 'high heel' feel to the front of my foot, where I have arthritis. Had the soles been a bit flatter, I would have bought 3 pair. The cushioning felt wonderful on my feet!

I love the colors. It also comes with black shoelaces in case the green is too bright for you. They fit comfortable from the beginning, no need to "break them in". I typically buy Saucony and will probably go back to them. These were a good comparison, not much different except the price.

I ordered these and the Ravenna 3 as well to compare. I am not sure what the change is but it seems different in the fit that the past Ravennas. I wore these first and had I wore the 3's first, would probably end up keeping them instead of these, but I do not need two pairs of running shoes at this time. The only thing that seems to stand out is that the toe box is not as wide as the Ravenna 3 or the past Ravennas. It is not something that you notice at first, but do as you wear the shoe for a while, not a deal breaker, but would prefer it not be changed...if it's not broken; don't fix it! Still a good shoe, but not as good as the past!

I purchased these shoes because a couple of my running pals love them. I on the other hand haven't been too impressed with the Ravenna 4. On some runs they don't bother me, but on most runs I get outer foot pain, and the toe cushioning doesn't feel even. I also experience more shin pain with these shoes. I have mild-mod over pronation, so I'm wondering if that has something to do with my discomfort with the shoes.

These shoes run narrow, which is great for me! However, they are a little tight across the top of the foot. Seems like they offer great support, but would order another style next time. Love the color, and arch is fine with my orthotics.

I bought these as extra shoes in addition to other Brooks that I have. My others are Adrenaline GTS which are much more comfortable. For some reason these are not as comfortable. After wearing to work the first day, once I got home and took them off, my feet were tired and aching. I would send them back, but I threw out the box. They are not roomy for me. They feel tight on my feet and I have a narrow to normal foot width. Still a good shoe I suppose compared to others but I'm not crazy about them.

A co-worker raved about Brooks, so I tried this pair, hoping they would be a good work shoe. So far they are comfortable, but I don't think they are worth the price I paid. By the end of an 8 hour shift my heels hurt. These may be great for running, but I definitely wouldn't recommend them for standing and frequent walking.

I run 20-30 miles per week and had to abandon the Asics GT 2000 because the toe box was narrower than the 2170, which I loved. These felt great out of the box, but needed to go 1/2 size larger than my usual 8.5 in Asics. Within 3 weeks I began developing a tibial stress reaction (unfortunately not diagnosed until worse 4 months later), and plantar fasciitis on the other side within 6 weeks. I have never had either problem before, even at higher mileage. I bought a new pair at 8 weeks, which felt great at first, but the pain quickly returned. Then I made the connection to the shoes, too late. Now I am in the middle of 10 weeks of no running, to recover. Problems: 1) the cushioning in these shoes degrades quickly, and 2) these shoes are not for the neutral runner -- there is a definite medial upslope throughout the entire length of the shoe. I also have a high arch, and these shoes may as well have had no arch support to me, though it may be just fine for those with lower or flat arches. In short: if you are truly a neutral runner with a need for cushioning, these are not for you.

This shoe was great looking yet I had to return it and order a half size bigger than usual. I wore a size 10 in a Ravenna 2 yet 10 1/2 in this shoe. Will write a new review as soon as I get my new order.

The Brooks Ravenna 4, in black, purple and lime, is a beautiful shoe... much more attractive than it appears on screen. It also looks to be very well made. I have to return it though, as they are too narrow. I had ordered a full size larger to compensate for width, since only B width is offered, but they simply won't work for me. I wore them for ten minutes for an exercise routine, but they were soon killing my feet. Does Brooks realize they're losing a lot of business from their lack of shoes in wider widths?

These shoes are awesome. I have flat feet after 13 years of working on a concrete floor. I am on my feet for about 10 to 12 hours a day. I walk on concrete and up and down a ladder all day. I am glad I spent the money on the shoes. These shoes are definitely worth the money.

Loved the Ravenna 2...put around 2500 miles on them! Long distance running and in need of a new pair as these are obviously very tired and worn out. Bought the 4...can't stand them! Wearing around the house kills the insole in my right foot (left is fine). Sad, was so looking forward to a new pair that boasts great reviews. Sending back...trying again. FYI, I almost always wear a size 8 in running shoes. If I were to keep these, a 7.5 is what I would need.

I loved the Ravenna 3, but am not liking this new sku. This version seems to have a lot more rubbery stuff and a lot less mesh at the toe box. Makes my bunion hurt like mad when running -- never had an issue with the Ravenna 3's. If you need a wide toe box, stay away from this shoe. Otherwise they're super cute. I can wear them around town, just not for running.
