The boots look narrow but surprisingly fit perfectly in my size. The quality seems very good to excellent. And odd as it may sound for a work boot, they look great...perfect for work use, but stylish enough for casual wear. I was replacing a pair of worn out, more expensive, LLBean boots. I've had outstanding experiences with Zappos in the past and was confident that I'd have no issues if I wanted to return them. I'll keep these boots...I'm very pleased with their quality, looks and price.

Pros: Price, 100% leather, classic style, comfortable Cons: Size runs 1/2 size big, a tad bulky, foam rubber sole First observation is these boots do run big. Ordering 1/2 size down may save you some grief. I wear Chippewa's service boot in 11.5 so naturally I thought the same size in this line. Wrong. They were too big. Had to do an 11 in these. These boots are more toward the "work" boot style. A little bulky, so the sizing makes sense. These are not dress boots, nor would I say they're a direct replacement for Chippewa's service boot (I have 2 pairs of those), iron rangers, or 1000 mile's. These can be an everyday boot for the street, jobsite, trail, whatever your liking, just have to recognize they are a step down from the premium boots around priced $300. The leather is decent for the price, more of a brushed leather, good color, sole is so so, it's spongy and made of foam rubber, I hope it lasts and can be replaced if worn out, time will tell. Moral here is you get what you pay for. If you don't mind spending $300 on boots and like chippewa's go for the service boot, they're better all around, if not, these are ok for $150. Depends really what you're after.

Brands I'd also recommend: chippewa, wolverine, redwing

This is so close to a 5-star boot! I have worn mine in a warehouse environment (outside on pavement and inside on smooth concrete flooring) for about a year now (5 days/week at work). The good: the fit and feel is amazing! These boots are a second skin to my feet. I did put different insoles into them for better arch support. I also replaced the boot laces with paracord laces (because hey, Zombie Apocalypse!). I could go jogging in these boots. I have also conditioned them once or twice by wiping the dirt and then covering with waterproofing compound. The bad: One or two of the hook-eyelets bends often. I am not sure what causes it. Occasionally, I take the cap lifter on my multi-tool to pry it back open so the laces fit. I had this problem both with factory-supplied laces and the paracord upgrade laces. If it weren't for the eyelet issues on one boot, this would definitely be 5 stars. I would and will buy this boot again should the current ones wear out.

Brands I'd also recommend: Work One, Justin, other Made in USA

Summary: Excellent boot overall. Get one size smaller. Takes a few weeks to wear into comfort. Then you've got a great boot for years to come. I read other reviews and got the boots one size smaller which was perfect I think. The initial comfort level was "you just bought a brand new pair of boots, you'll have to wear them in" and it's been a few weeks and I'm happy. You just have to realize that getting something that will last a really long time is worth the time to break it in. I'm the type who doesn't like to buy shoes period and so I think these will set me up for the next few years. I think the boots look good with jeans or slacks and so far the wear makes them look even better in my opinion. I'd recommend Chippewa to others.

Love these boots. Great color, although a little lighter than the picture shows. Very comfortable out of the box, no blisters with the break-in. Fit is perfect and true. Great boots, very satisfied!

The most comfortable boots I've worn. I have Ecco, Timberland, and Eastland, these by far are great. I originally ordered a 9, but the fit was to tight. I went with a 9.5 and the magic begun!!!!

For $50 more you can get a pair of Red Wings that will last a lifetime. I'm not convinced of the durability. Conform-wise, these are much better out-of-the-box then Red Wings.

While I liked the style of this boot, it was extremely uncomfortable in two areas. At the top of the shaft it "bit" into the back of my leg. The lower part of the tongue seemed to bunch up and I couldn't seem to get it in a comfortable position.

Excellent boots at a great value. They take some time to wear in though, on account of the thick leather.

I wanted a durable boot with great arch support that looked fashionable. I have had them for two years and they are still going strong. The finish on the boot is cool and it would be great to see after a year or two untreated. I put leather conditioner on mine and have them polished weekly - they look awesome - but the finish is completely changed by conditioner, oil or polish. I much prefer buying things made in the US.

The boots are fairly comfortable right out of the box, but I do think they'll require some break-in time. The tread/sole of these are pretty useless on anything other than dry, textured ground. You may as well be wearing roller skates when walking in these on snow or mud. I like the boot but am wishing I had chosen something with more of a tread.

Looking for a good boot that I could wear to work with wranglers or khakis for a long time. These boots have it all...fit, finish, durability, and style! One of the most comfortable shoes I have purchased in many years...maybe the Eccos I bought in '99 that only lasted 1 year would give these Chippewas any competition for first step comfort, but less than a year for the sole...Chippewa is now my go to shoe company for all my shoe needs and Zappos backs any purchase. Hunting boots are next....my Rocky's were very good and are sitll holding up, but the Chippewas are built for the long haul. The bonus is they are made in the USA!! worth the few extra $$. I'm just saving up a little longer for next pair...I wear arch supports and was concerned about the size...I wear a 9 and took a chance they would fit...they did perfectly! The best shoes, best shoe company and best online shoe store. Mark

Trying to get off the fence about these. They are beautiful--they're for the guy that wants tough boots but wants them to be pretty. I wear an 11.5 in some sneakers, never smaller than 11 fits, but I had to go all the way down to 10 for these. I crammed my foot into those for one evening at home, and the next day felt like one of my arches was bruised; too tight. Exchanged them for the 10EE and these seem closest to the right size. Problem (as with most "wide-size" options) they're just bigger in every way--they're longer, the heel is looser, the toe-box is "clowny" looking. All the work boots are like this and I guess the idea is that you buy giant socks, put an insole in and just try not to trip over things. I wore a pair of Georgia Giants 8-inch for about 7 years and I put 2 insoles in a size 10.5 and still had to wear super thick socks always. This is strange--I mean I want to be able to wear socks, but why would anyone want their shoes to be so much bigger than their feet? Isn't that hard to walk in? Also, lots of outdoor jobs require you to operate a vehicle, often with a clutch, so both feet should be maneuverable and not in danger of catching the brake pedal or something when you don't mean to. That being said, I think all boots in this category are like this (wolverines, redwings, etc.) and are much more expensive which is nuts. I think maybe the shape of boots has just slowly gotten ridiculous over the years since they are factory-produced, and there's no getting them properly sized unless the mold was cast from your actual foot. Also the leather for the 10EE is completely different from the D width which was buttery soft, a lighter color, and had an almost suede-feel. I guess the EE's are less popular so they use the hind quarters or something. I actually prefer the flatter, tougher leather of these, and oiled them to a darker color which is what I wanted anyhow. In conclusion, I'm done shopping and I'll just keep these and hope that after breaking in they are more nimble and less goofy-looking (in profile they look exactly like the ones in the video I noticed). But I will probably break-down and join the "hiker-boots" crowd once the snow comes. Those seem more sneaker-like and functional (and water-proof, and well-treaded), but look like crap. These will end up being drinking-boots. Oh well.

I exchanged the first order of the boots since they came in half a size larger. The new fit is still slightly loose on the heel when wearing regular socks - but do realize that you might wanna wear these with wool socks in winter - so don't get the size that will be as tight as snickers.

This the first Chippewa boots I've bought and WOW Chippewa knocked this out of the park. No break-in period at all. Can be easily tightened from lose to as tight as you can stand. Bought the EE Wide and runs a little narrower that other boot manufactures. But that's alright with me because my feet are wide but were always a little too loose in other wides. I'm not done yet. The best quality about these boots are that they are MADE IN THE USA! OO-RAH.

Nice rich color. My feet are flat and quite wide so I got the wide cut in a half size smaller than my dress shoe size and it fits very well. They don't weigh much and the sole absorbs shock.

I really like the boots. They are very comfortable and feel and look like high quality boots. The only issue I had is that I wear size 11 shoes for all shoes but I bought the 11 and they were too big. 10½ fit me perfectly.

By far the most comfortable shoes I own. They have great arch support and a comfortable insole so you can walk/stand/work for long periods in them without your feet hurting. They are surprisingly light weight while still feeling strong and durable. They have pretty good traction. I wore them out in the ice/snow and didn't have any problems with slipping. They take a few wears to break in. I usually wear a 10 and sometimes a 10.5. I ordered 9.5 in these and they fit just right.
