Very comfortable walking shoes. I bought them to wear on a trip to Europe where white tennis shoes just don't cut it. They fit like a glove right out of the box and are very comfortable. Good arch support and soft heel.

These are very stylish for a walking shoe, but they simply do not justify that price tag.
I wore these shoes on a trip to Europe this month; my biggest issue is that after only a month of use the area where the bottom of the shoe meets the rest of the sole is coming unglued. This isn't due to any neglect on my part, and I am amazed that the rubber is coming apart. shoes that cost a fraction of what these do have lasted me a year, and these ones are falling apart after one month of use.
And while the shoes are comfortable enough (they take a while to break in), they're not as great as some of the other reviews led me to hope. My feet definitely still felt sore after all day on my feet and I did get a small blister on the bottom of my heel (though not as bad as it may have been otherwise)
Perhaps I was just unlucky and purchased a defective pair, but considering the price I'm just astounded that they are beginning to fall apart after one month.
These were very comfortable out of the box and didn't require any breaking in. Just put them on a wore them all day many days in a row - a miracle for me! This shoe is a bit narrower in the forefoot than usual for this kind of Mephisto style, but the leather is soft and stretched easily. The only reason I gave it a 4 star rating in comfort is the forefoot width. I have high arches and would have been happy with a bit more arch support but not having it hasn't presented any problem with this particular style.
The first time you put them on, it's like you've worn them for years--so comfortable. Not clunky, not heavy. The black buck is really good looking. I love the embossed wing tip. I have Mephisto leather sandals and when i bought those, they felt the same way--put them on and they immediately feel as if you've worn them for a long time. When you wear Mephistos, you have wonderfully designed and made shoes. Expensive, but so worth it.
I had never heard of Mephisto before I read the review of another shoe on Zappos. I was looking for a good walking shoe for an upcoming trip, and the review said that Mephistos were comfortable right out of the box. So I tried them And I had the same experience. They are very comfortable for my feet and have been since the first moment I put them on. I've been trying to wear them often to break them in, but I found that they really don't need any breaking in. They're just comfortable shoes. They aren't especially cute, but they're also not unattractive. What I like most about their appearance is that they don't call attention to themselves. They are on the spendy side, but I was so pleased with my experience with this shoe that I would absolutely buy more in the future.
I love these shoes. This is my third pair of Mephisto Lasers; they are comfortable from the very beginning. I have a plate and a few screws holding my heel in place which makes me look for shoes that will not rub against the places where the hardware is, provide good support and are gentle to my feet. These shoes fit the bill - I find them soft, stable, extremely comfortable, good arch support, no breaking time and do not slip in wet surfaces. The dark grey pearl color is very sharp.
The Laser does not feel cushy but that is because the insole is a higher quality, firmer material, and there is additional firm cushioning in the midsole. My feet, knees and legs do not feel tired after a day in the Laser. These are roomy shoes without looking big and clunky on your feet. The toe box has a little more height than usual so you can move your toes, yet the heel is nice and narrow. My size 8 is a 38 Mephisto. These are not fashion shoes, but they do look neat and don't scream look at my shoes.
They fit my feet - not always easy to do. They have a removable insole so I can replace it with my own prescription one. They have a good cushioned, but firm sole. I can walk a long time in these shoes. Lots of athletic shoes pretty well fit the above description, but these shoes look good enough to everywhere. That's really important when I'm traveling.
I bought this shoe for a trip to France. I knew we would be doing a lot of walking. When I first tried it on, I was hesitant. I kept walking around the house trying to determine if this shoe is going to take me for long, hard walks in France or anywhere else. I have some heal problems. achy knees, some hip and back problems. I'll have to say this shoe did great. My feet never hurt, and I had no problems with knees, back, etc. Not the most attractive shoe in the world but discreet enough not to be noticed. I also wore to dinner some nights with black pants. I feel I will get lots of use out of this shoe this fall and winter. I'm pleased with the shoe and hope the shoes will last for a long time because they are expensive.
Super comfortable. Pricey, but that's the norm for Mephisto. I haven't yet regretted paying that price or their product. I have trouble feet and I need to take care of them. I find that I need 10 1/2 when it's a closed in shoe, whereas I can wear 10 in a sandal. This shoe is so easy to tie, because of the metal rings where the laces feed through. Especially nice when you go through the airport.
I just bought the Mephisto Laser - I'm using it as a walking and bike riding shoe. It is exceptionally comfortable and stylish. Sure beats gaudy shoes with lots of flashy brand names emblazoned all over them. Who wants their feet to 'stand out.' Nice to have conservative colors that blend in with slacks or sweat pants. Pure comfort!
I got this shoe in red in a 10.5 so I could wear a light sock with it. I absolutely love them. They don't look bulky, as some other shoes do. I would get them in other colors as well, but it seems the 10.5 size is gone. So glad I got the one pair when I did!
I was disappointed that these didn't fit. I had my foot sized (at Nordstrom) before I ordered these. I ordered an 11 and they were to small. I think they run small, at least for me. I was disappointed as I was looking forward to wearing these.
These walking shoes are the most comfortable I have worn, including two previous pairs of Mephisto. I have a problem on one foot which affects my first two toes, causes swelling in that area and sensitivity to pressure. In these shoes, I am totally pain free. They are absolutely true to size, not clunky at all, and highly recommended!
This is an excellent shoe, and looks less bulky that my size (11) generally does. But that may be the source of the flaw. Although the length of the source is close to size, the width is off by 3/4 inch at least, so that what initiallly feels like great support turns out to be very constricting after an hour of indoor wear. And I do not think I have wide feet!
I bought these hoping for shoes to wear around every day and walk in. The style is nice, but they were not as cushy in the heel and did not have as much arch support as I was hoping for, so I will be returning them. They are nice, but I do not think that they are comfortable enough to justify the price. I bought according to the European size 38 - but they ran a bit large.
I have terrible feet and my closet is littered with shoes that seemed good at first, but then gave me problems. It seems that I can only wear Mephistos now! I just ordered my first pair of Laser shoes, and they were soft and comfortable right out of the box. Especially important to me now is the toe box area, since it seems that I'm developing hammertoes. So comfortable, and no toe box stretching needed. I have been wearing an old pair of Mephisto's Rush, a style that has been discontinued. I doubt this style will wear as well (they're way cheaper than Rush was, and those puppies are almost indestructable), but I'm glad to have found an everyday shoe that doesn't make me gimpy. The only problem: so-so arch support. I need to use my orthodics in the shoes. My Mephisto sandals have amazing arch support and I can walk all day in them. I wish there was some transfer of knowledge at the corporate level so that Laser had the same footbed. Then these shoes would be absolutely perfect.
I have problematic feet (wide, a bunion, and a healing broken toe) and found these shoes to fit nicely and be quite comfortable. I can easily walk and stand for extended periods in them. Not super fashionable, but nice enough looking.
I have bought Mephisto shoes for a very long time and have never been disappointed. They are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. This pair was no different. From the moment I put them on, they felt like a good fitting glove - and that's why I pay the extra price. I have wide feet and these accommodate them nicely. I have Achilles heel tendonitis and the shoe has plenty of support to help me on those days when I'm very active.
I was surprised the shoe ran small and I had to send it back for a larger size - first time ever with a Mephisto. However, with Zappos' excellent service, I had the right size the following day.
I never thought I would buy shoes online, but Zappos has happily made the process so easy that I keep coming back to buy from them.
I fractured my ankle and after many weeks in a cast and walking shoe, I started wearing these shoes. Plenty of support, no. Breaking in and extremely comfortable. My doctor approved and complimented me on how nice a supportive shoe it was.
These shoes help my aging feet cope with our frequent trips to NYC, where I walk much more than usual, running up and down subway steps and so on.
They are not particularly stylish, but they are acceptable and do not draw attention to themselves. They are lightweight and supportive, well-made shoes.
