I just received my Merrell Moabs, and right out of the box, they were comfortable, but somewhat stiff as you would expect. Fit and finish were what you would expect. I don't normally buy shoes off the internet, but after wearing their camp mocs, I ordered they same size. They fit just fine and will be even better once they are broken in, and will perform as advertised. It just proves, you get what you pay for.

These are the first Merrell shoes I've owned. I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed! Previous brands I used to purchase were New Balance, but these feel far superior. They feel excellent on my feet, right from day 1 without any break-in period. That says it all for me. I would highly recommend these shoes.

I had an older pair that I wore for about 8 years and finally wore off the tread. I wanted an all around hiker travel/adventure shoe. This one is perfect. Very light, sturdy and well made. Normally I wear a 9 1/2 and bought a 10. It fits perfect. I was not sure if the Gore-tex would add weight or be an issue with flexability, but they are breathable but maybe slightly warmer than my previous non Gore-tex. I have not tested them in the rain, but I think they should handle well in moderate conditions. I would highly recommend these shoes.

I've been using this shoe to read meters in Southern California. I walk an average of 50-60 miles in a week. I just went through my third pair of these shoes; the first pair were the mid-tops without the Gore-Tex, and those were extremely comfortable. These on the other hand are stiff out of the box and require break-in, but I walk through so much wet grass that the waterproofing is a necessity. These shoes hold up well, and once they break-in they are very comfy. I usually wear a 10, but in this shoe I'm a 10.5. I do wear two socks in these shoes though, saves me from blisters. This shoe has stood my test of time, and if I can't find another decently priced Gore-Tex shoe, I'll be back for another pair. If you really don't need the Gore-Tex I'd check out the other model as they're lighter and softer. I've worn every pair until they fall apart, rugged compared to anything cheaper. This is a recommended shoe for the price.

I felt this shoe ran small. I thought it would break in but had to return it for the next size up because my big toe kept hurting. The shoe felt very solid, light and kept my feet dry.

So far I'm really liking these shoes. The fit well and are comfortable. I have noticed this about Merrell shoes though, sometime there wide shoes are still not wide enough for my feet. Even with the same type of shoe. I ordered 2 shoes, just different colors and they fit differently. One wasn't wide enough. And this has happened twice now to me. So be warned.

My initial sense was it was a terrific shoe but six months later, below average use, parts of the shoe are coming apart. Very disappointing.

Western Oregon gets its share of wet weather. I've owned a number of Merrells over the years and was not surprised at the quality of this shoe. I'm active in all kinds of weather and these waterproof Moabs are the best shoes I've owned. I had the same fit problem others have mentioned here in that my shoes were about a half-size too small. After exchanging them for a larger pair, I've had no issues and am pleased with my purchase. Here's the important part: Zappos has the best customer service of any company I've purchased from. Their return policy, friendly and helpful staff, and speed of service are unmatched. They even over-nighted my new pair at their expense. These folks are great to do business with. You'll like these shoes. However, you will appreciate doing business with Zappos more.

I purchased these just before a trip to Death Valley. I did not have time to break them in before the trip. As it turns out, that was unnecessary. I wore them for about 14 hours a day for 7 days. These are probably the most comfortable pair of shoes that I have ever owned. I will probably buy another pair as backup. Highly recommended!

I've worn the Moab series of Merrell's for a few years now and decided to get the XCR for the Gore-Tex since I would like one pair of shoes that I can wear year round. I wear them daily around town, but also bike about 50-70 miles a week in them. Comfortable for long periods of time. I've worn them on a couple hikes as well and been very happy. Will definitely buy another pair when these wear out.

Perfect everyday shoe! I wear them to work everyday. Waterproof to the max. This is my fourth or fifth pair over the years and I refuse to buy anything else.

Merrells fit me well, and I like the spacious toe box and high arch.

These are pretty comfortable for light hikers with gore-tex. These are the best that I have been able to find.

I love these shoes. Just bought my third pair, after walking my way through my previous ones. These shoes are extremely comfortable, especially if you walk and stand a lot as I do for my job. These are also great for medium level hikes and outdoor activities. The GoreTex lining is great to keep your feet dry when walking through puddles. The added GoreTex booty does make the shoe run smaller, so buy a half size larger than you think you'll need! Totally worth my money every time. (I wear mine with Bronze Superfeet for extra comfort.)

I have a wide foot and finding a wide shoe that feels snug enough to trail run in is a challenge. This shoe has taken the cake for sure. The width is perfect for my 11 wide foot and I am anxious to keep trailing in them!

Ordered the wide shoe and it is indeed wide, unlike some that claim to be wide but are not. This Beluga also has excellent cushioning. I'm on my feet most of the day as a U.S. postal carrier. At day's end I never feel leg heavy owing to these shoes. They are also rugged and don't pick up dirt and stains easily. They continue to look new for a long time.

These are possibly the most comfortable, solid shoes that I have ever owned. I bought them for hiking (which they were great for) and now I wear them to work!

Perfect fit for my wide foot. All season, all terrain, durable. Wear them anywhere. I also have a pair of mids for winter.

These are my second pair of Merrells, and won't be my last. Very comfortable out of the box, only took a couple of days to thoroughly break in. They fit true to size with light hiking socks, and appear to be well-constructed. I went with the Gore-Tex because I wanted waterproof yet breathable shoes -- it gets hot in Atlanta and also rains a lot. They are a little warmer than my last pair of shoes, but those weren't waterproof (at all), these are a big upgrade.

These shoes were a big Christmas hit for my husband! He has short, wide feet that are not easy to find shoes for. We have been looking for waterproof shoes for winter walking and golfing. These are perfect. Now I want a pair for myself!

I have only worn them once since my purchase, but they fit well. I usually wear a 2x width and probably could have gone with the regular width. They seem very well made. I bought them to stay dry and warm in New York, but so far the winter weather has been too nice... yeah!

This is a great multi-purpose low-cut sneaker-hiker. I use it for hiking and exercising walking in wet conditions, the Gore-Tex works great. I also use it for general wear around town and my land went the conditions call for it. It fit my size 10.5 wide foot fine right out of the box. It was a little stiff to start off but after only a few wearings has become very comfortable. It looks and feels like it is well constructed and will last a long time. I'd say it was well worth the money. As is always the case, no one beats Zappos for great stuff and excellent service.
