Customers Say

Customers find these shoes comfortable and of good quality, with stylish leather that looks almost new. The fit receives mixed feedback - while some find it accommodating for wide feet, others say they run small in width. The leather quality and durability also get mixed reviews, with some praising the top-quality soft leather while others note durability issues. The arch support and tie length are concerns, with customers reporting poor arch support and shoes that won't stay tied.

This review is for those with narrow feet, (A or B width) and it is a rant to all shoe manufacturers. The rest of you with average or wide feet just wouldn't get it, so skip to the next review. I ordered the Midland oxford in a B width. My foot measures a 13 A width according to the measuring devices in shoe stores. But as you know the only shoes available in an A width are formal dress shoes. (as if those of us with narrow feet wear a suit 100% of the time) I was very disappointed after trying these on to find they fit the same widthwise as many D width shoes I've tried. This seems to be the case with almost all of the small number of shoes that are actually available in a B width. I think the only shoes made in a B width are the ones that actually run a little wide to begin with, so the manufacturer makes them in a so-called B width to compensate for those who need a D width. That has been my experience with the pidly handful of shoes by Dunham, Clarks, Rockport, Ecco, etc. that are offered in a so called "B" width. Yea all the shoe salesmen suggest adding a second insole to take up space but that only creates more problems, like increasing heel slippage or cramping the toes to name a couple. When I was younger I did the extra insole trick but now I'm older and my feet are more sensitive and I'm fed up with that stupid solution. I would actually pay double price for a shoe that fits right if that were an option. I wish that were an option for special order. Actually I'm not too disappointed this particular shoe doesn't fit as it was one of my last choices in terms of aesthetics of the shoe. The shoe seems like it would be comfortable for someone with a wider foot who didn't need any arch support. Those who say this shoe has "excellent arch support" don't know what arch support is and apparently don't need it. I think I've officially tried all casual shoes available in a B width now with absolutely no luck. I'm still optimistic. Maybe in the next 10 yrs. there will be a couple new styles offered in a narrow width. At least I can still get a secure fit with a couple running shoes and light hikers though I'm getting really tired of only wearing those and it isn't always an appropriate choice. I'm not really picky, I'm just sick of not have a casual shoe that doesn't slip on the heel or having my foot slide around in the shoe.

I ordered these shoes in the 4E size, expecting they would fit, but unfortunately I was disappointed. I liked the style and the craftsmanship appeared to be good, but the shoes were a little narrow, and were especially constricting across the top of my arch. I am so glad that Zappos makes returns easy.

A very comfortable shoe, but best of all is the sure grip on wet and slippery surfaces. I am a rural carrier, so I go to a lot of different types of surfaces, and I feel confident when I am in these and all my Dunham shoes.

Finally! A pair of shoes that are wide enough for me! I bought these as work shoes and as a computer tech at a big company I spend a lot of time walking. They work very well for what I need them to do. The only minor complaint I have is that they are a little longer than I'd like. I should have gone a 1/2 size smaller, but the fit was good enough that I didn't need to send them back.

I was looking for shoes I could wear to work or for casual wear, and I saw these had high ratings, so I decided to give them a try. I got them several weeks ago and have worn them quite a bit. At first they were a little stiff, and I had one shoe that was pinching my foot after wearing them all day, but now that they are getting broken in that problem is diminishing (probably just my weird feet). In any case, I do a lot of walking, and these are very comfortable. I also really like the looks - they look good with khakis for work or with jeans for casual wear. Generally, it's a good all-around shoe. I would buy them again - maybe I will get a black pair to go with the brown.
