Fjällräven’s Epic Respect for The Outdoors | Zappos Goods for Good
Connecting people with nature, one item at a time. That’s Fjällräven.
Outfitting customers for extraordinary and everyday adventures since 1978, Fjällräven maintains a legacy of conservation and timeless gear.
The Swedish outdoor brand began its journey with a single wood-framed trekking pack and has grown into an international phenomenon of products that go from city to summit.
“We encourage everyone to get into the outdoors with the belief that with outdoor exploration comes an undeniable appreciation for the earth,” says Fjällräven Marketing Manager Kevin Stayart. “We believe that the more this is understood, the more humans will be inspired to respect and preserve our planet.”
Never straying far from their roots, Fjällräven manufactures premium outdoor gear with a commitment to performance, sustainability, workers’ rights and animal welfare.
Arctic Fox Initiative
For Fjällräven, the Arctic Fox Initiative is the next step in living their mantra: “Leave basecamp better than you found it.” First built to help Stockholm University fund arctic fox research, the initiative now assists other nonprofits with conservation goals.
Using revenue from the sale of Kånken Art and Kånken Rainbow backpacks, Fjällräven enables grant recipients to maintain programs like beach cleanups, environmental education, and outdoor accessibility for underserved groups.

Durability is Sustainability
Products that last longer is one simple step toward building a more sustainable apparel industry. While they’re constantly innovating and looking for ways to reduce their footprint, Fjällräven also knows that part of a garment’s lifecycle is in the hands of the consumer.
They create items that are durable and easy to repair in hopes that customers will continue using their products for generations. To conserve water and extend the lifespan of a product, they also suggest washing your gear less frequently.

Advancing Ethical Manufacturing
Social and environmental responsibility is at the core of Fjällräven’s brand values. They’re dedicated to improving wages and safety for factory workers and signed the UN Global Compact for human rights.
By using timeless fabrics like wool and canvas, and forward-thinking materials like recycled polyester and PFC-free rainwear coating, Fjällräven strikes a balance between performance and environmental impact. Their down is fully traceable, and animal welfare is given top priority throughout the supply chain.
Kånken: An Icon on a Mission
The Kånken backpack has been an icon for more than 40 years. First designed as a student backpack, the versatile and easily recognizable bag is up for a morning commute or any adventure that comes your way.
While the timeless design has remained unchanged since 1978, Fjällräven has remixed the Kånken pack with special edition prints and colors that benefit their Arctic Fox Initiative.
