Legally Blind Skateboarder Sets His Sights High
Seeing Isn't Believing
Justin Bishop loves to skateboard. So much so that he teaches young kids to ride despite being visually impaired. At the age of 8, Bishop was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic disorder of the eyes that will eventually leave him blind. This setback, however, didn’t keep him from skating for long. Convinced by family and friends to get out and start living again, Bishop has regained his passion for the sport he thought he’d never play, or see, again.
