Returned it. The sternum strap attachment device has a new design. I prefer the older, more "primitive", all-plastic pieces which connect the shoulder straps to each other via a simple side-release buckle on the sternum strap. The newer design incorporates tiny bungee cords, small metal armatures/levers which raise and lower into place, which still slide up and down the flat nylon webbing which face each slimly-padded shoulder strap, even though I believe they're supposed to lock the sternum strap into place. Even when "locked", the sternum strap still slides up and down. Much ado about nothing. Net change for the better: nil. Other considerations: really thin, insufficiently-padded shoulder straps. The two horizontal cinch straps are a plus, not only to consolidate the load, but the upper one can help anchor water bottles in the side mesh pockets by threading the strap through the bottles' cap loops (I use Nalgene OTF's) so they won't fall out if you, say, bend over while wearing the pack. The Y-opening is ingenious. Now if only MR would price this little pack more reasonably as well as incorporate the changes cited above, we'll be in business...

RETURNING! ! ! This is such a well-made bag, the kind that should last a lifetime. But, the design falls short. First, I had read other reviews about the Velcro. I wasn’t worried about the noise of the Velcro until I got the bag. It would be extreme even in a grocery line. So that was the dealbreaker. The other problems are hard to figure out exactly what’s wrong. It’s just not user-friendly. It’s not quite rigid enough to support the open pockets inside. And the strap: significantly better than what is on their SKA bag but still not really “right” for the bag. Perhaps a more substantial strap with some padding would help? This is the second mystery Ranch purse/bag I have tried. They are so well-made yet so poorly designed for my needs.

This pack is marketed as a “DSLR” pouch, and says “Made to fit all but the oddest camera bodies with a 24-70mm lens attached.” Nikons are very standard DSLRs, and mine doesn’t fit with that exact 24-70mm lens. The lid won’t close. Very disappointing for something I paid $100 for and had shipped to me. I even looked at the precise measurements and set them against my camera setup, but the measurements are off—smaller than the actual pack.

I had read good reviews on other sites and decided to buy. I’m glad I did. It’s incredibly light weight and is perfect for day hikes. It holds quite a bit and has a couple of small pockets on the outside which are great for phone, keys etc.

This bag is awesome. Built like a tank I cannot see myself breaking any piece of it anytime soon. The only thing I dont like is the lack of water bottle carrier. I know the urban assult 24 had water bottle pockets but the extra laptop sleeve on the 24 looks lame. All in all a great EDC bag.

Bag looks great. Comfortable. Like the 3-zipper design, which allows easy access to the bag.

I'm really pleased with this pack. Great design, bomber materials, impressive construction, and tons of pockets, features, and organization. For me I prefer it as a messenger more so than a backpack but works well both ways.
