Jewel's Handmade Holiday Tour Evokes The Simple Pleasures

“My family didn’t have heirlooms. We had songs.”

Jewel Kilcher, better known as the artist Jewel, was born in the humble town of Payson, Utah and grew up in Homer, Alaska. The house where she was raised had no indoor plumbing, no running water and no heat. Her parents divorced when she was 8, and she and her Dad performed where they could to make ends meet.

She left home at the age of 15 to attend a fine arts school in Michigan, hitchhiked to Cabo San Lucas the summer she turned 16 and became homeless after graduation, eventually drifting to San Diego, singing in a local coffee shop. Her luck finally changed in 1995 and with her debut album, “Pieces of You,” which went 12 times platinum. She has since sung for Pope John Paul II and President Bill Clinton, and she’s performed with Bob Dylan and BB King.

And now she wants to sing for you! Zappos.com and Hallmark Channel are proud to present Jewel’s Handmade Holiday Tour, kicking off in Las Vegas, NV on November 24 and wrapping up on December 21 in Hershey, PA.

Jewel isn’t coming alone, either. She’s bringing her Dad and her brothers to perform right alongside her. Atz, Atz Lee and Nikos Kilcher are stars of the show "Alaska: The Last Frontier."

And in the spirit of the holidays, Jewel isn’t just going to be singing. Her tour will feature a space for pre-show artisan craft and gift making, allowing guests to create one-of-a-kind memories.

“With this Handmade Holiday Tour, I am so honored to share some of the traditions I was raised with in Alaska on our family homestead. Building memories by sharing handmade moments,” said Jewel. “Creating unique gifts and sharing songs is a Kilcher family tradition we can't wait to share with others on this tour.”

If that isn’t enough, the tour is sponsoring 25 individuals in need per show who will receive gift vouchers so they can participate and make sure they have a handmade gift for the holidays.

Zappos will be kicking off its Home for the Pawlidayz campaign as well, bringing in pets for adoption from local shelters during each of Jewel’s tour stops.
