I've only run a few times in these shoes but first impression is that they seem magical on both the trails and road. I will still train in my Vibram Five Fingers and Nike Free's but use the Kiawe for racing.

This is a great shoe for sprint and olympic triathlon (smooth surfaces). Be sure to order with bungee cord, no tie shoe lace. I have not tried the shoe in 1/2 distance triathlon/IM. I would prefer the shoe fit more snug on my heel. The shoe is a nice snug, comfortable fit everywhere else throughout my foot. I typically wear neutral shoe and have high instep. The shoe gave me one blister at the inner, upper shoe-line but once broke in no other blister problems. Use Body Glide on the shoe upper shoe-line for the first few runs (if you go sockless). I do not believe this shoe is made to wear with socks (fit would be too tight). I train in these shoes also. These shoes are wearing out quickly at the toe & forefoot area as the shoe encourages me to run more on my forefoot. But this wear is typical with a very light shoe. You have to ignore the increased wear rate and enjoy the fast runs with this lightweight shoe. I am buying another pair and will have 2 broke in Kiawes available to rotate. My experience = approximately 50 triathlons. Hopefully Zoot will not stop production of the Kiawe.

Good race day shoe, not a trainer. Quick for transitions in triathlons. Comes with two types of shoelaces which is helpful. It's my second pair of Zoots and I've tried all types of brands. I'm a fan.
