You’ve heard of the Jackson 5? Well, this has nothing to do with that. This is a card game. A card game as big and crazy as SXSWi. Wanna play?

Grand Prize = Vegas Trip! 4 days/3 nights (long weekend) in Vegas and a Zappos Tour. Prize includes air, hotel and rental car.

How do I play?

Locate Zappos employees during SXSWi to collect playing cards and try to build a 5-of-a-kind hand. For example, your hand can be 5 Kings, 5 nines, or 5 Aces – the cards do not need to be the same suit. Yes we know, most games look for 3-of-a-kind but we’re a little weird like that.

Saturday (Day One) - Game on! Find a Zappos Employee and get your first three cards.

Sunday (Day Two) - Game off! Just kidding, the game is still on. Hurry and hunt down your fourth card.

Monday (Day Three) - Last chance people! Secure your fifth and final card.

So here’s the deal (yep, pun intended).  Remember, your task is to get a 5-of-a-kind hand using three Day One cards, one Day Two card, and one Day Three card. The cards are marked with 1, 2 and 3 to make it easy! It’s easy as 1 -2 -3! 

Like my Uncle Mickey used to say, “Is your hand so bad it’s a foot?” Good news, trading cards is allowed and you are at SXSW Interactive – so interact already! Post, Tweet, Text, email, or be wild and crazy and talk to other players and see if they will trade with you. Don’t forget, the 5-of-a-kind hand you submit needs to be made up of 3 Day One cards, 1 Day Two Card and 1 Day Three Card.

How do I get my cards?

Tony will be the SXSWi Keynote Speaker on Saturday, 3/14 at 2pm in the Austin Convention Center. That is your first chance to get your Day One cards and we hope to see you there!

After that, every night of SXSWi (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) our Zappos dealers will be on the scene in Austin with cards between 8pm and midnight. They will tweet out their locations as they fan out across the city. You’ll know Zappos dealers by the super cool t-shirts we’ll be wearing.

This hand’s a winner for sure! Now what?

Send an email to zappos5@zappos.com with your hand. The email can be:

1.)  Something like, “I got 5 Jacks! Yippee!”  OR

2.)  A picture of your hand (extra props if your cards are somehow posing for the shot), OR

3.)  A video showing off you and your hand (the more creative, weird, and fun the better!)

The deadline to get your email in is Friday, April 3^rd, 2009.  All entries will be entered into a raffle for the prizes. But don’t throw out your cards after you email us! Winners of the raffle will be asked to provide proof of their submitted hands to claim their prize.
