I love these boots. They are very, very stiff and so will require a long break in period. That said, they are very comfortable. I especially love the way the leather liner around the ankle hugs my foot. I have had no blisters (a major achievement) since I have taken care to break them in slowly. I did swap out the footbed for one with more arch support due to a old injury. Perfect.

Best boots I have ever owned - footbed awesome, craftsmanship impeccable. Recommend coupling this unit with RedHead all purpose lifetime guarantee 88% merino lambswool socks. Zamberlan, you must continue to manufacture your product in Italy where it belongs. Thank you for your quality boots.

These boots are amazing. I wore them for several weeks around my working cattle ranch to break them in and they were as durable if not more so than my Red Wings. I then took them backpacking for 3 weeks through Patagonia including the famous "W" circuit in the Torres Del Paine. I wore them every day in South America and never had a single blister. When I got home, I didn't take them off and went straight to deer hunting. These boots didn't skip a beat! They provide unparalleled comfort and durability. Also very waterproof and with wool sock keep my feet plenty warm. With the exception of deep snow, these boots are gonna do anything you want them to. As usual, outstanding Zappos service to back them up.

I love these boots. Well made. Comfortable! And good looking, too. Maybe I feel a bit chic'er because they're Italian-made but maybe not. I just like the boots and I'm glad I got them.

The Panther is my second pair of quality Zamberlan boots. Purchased the Civettas two years ago, an excellent hiking boot though I needed a slightly lighter non Gore-Tex boot for my job and daily wear. The quality I expected once again. True to fit, excellent support, very comfortable, with quality construction I believe due to being made in Italy. I'm a Zamberlan customer as long as they don't farm out production to China. I wore Vasque for over twenty years until they were made in China, cheap junk was the result, so I switched with no regrets. Went on a ten mile hike right out of the box not one hot spot. Slightly stiff for the first couple of miles in the woods, though loosened up quite nicely by the time I was finished. You can't go wrong with this brand of boot. Much lighter than the Civetta and would wear either on a long hike. Civettas are hotter and more durable for rocky terrain. Love them both. Prices are right, customer service experience during both purchases far exceeds the norm these days. I'm sold on Zappos customer service. Going to buy a second pair of these Panthers while they are still on sale as I like to alternate boots. Bought black, going to buy the brownish next. These boots make my feet happy.

About Zamberlan
Made in Italy since 1929
Guiseppe Zamberlan (also known as “Bepi” for short), is the mastermind behind Zamberlan footwear. He began his career repairing shoes, which in turn developed into a career of making finely crafted boots. His passion for the trekking and the outdoors led him to search for better materials and more efficient construction methods of boot making to satisfy his need for ‘safer and easier’ movement throughout the mountains.
Zamberlan boots are quality tested for durability and performance. The Zamberlan company, which is situated at the foot of the Piccole Dolomiti, is an ideal testing ground for new products and ideas. It is within these mountains that new ideas for top quality boots are created and cultivated.
So after nearly 80 years of boot manufacturing, the Zamberlan Company is still a family run business, with the third generation actively taking part in all stages of design and production. At Zamberlan, they remain dedicated to their hand made boots and believe they will carry you well throughout your journey.

These boots appear to be high quality and are finished well. The leather sidewalls are pretty stiff and the soles non-flexible so first use feels a little odd but the soles are becoming more flexible after a few days of use. The boots are comfortable from day one. I\'m happy with the purchase.

Great hiking shoe! Will last for at least 10 years in my opinion. Premium leather waterproof outer surface and inside is line with soft leather. Breaking-in need a little time maybe a month or two for many years of comfort is worth the pain. At first my arch ached so I inserted a shoe pad and it helped but after two weeks I don't need it anymore. Very comfortable shoe. Another plus side is it increased my height by 2 to 2.5 inches. The sole is vibram and its tough but surprisingly your steps felt bouncy. The closest comparison to this hiking boot would be Merrell Wilderness also made in Italy. Very happy with the purchase. Too bad I wouldn't be needing the same shoe for at least 10 years. But I will buy again in a snap if stolen. Will be using the shoe in the Himalayan mountain ranges for trekking only (not for climbing), can't wait!

Great boots, well constructed. One problem, the tongue on one boot seems to continually want to sideways. Not sure if its my foot or the boot. Other than that, very happy with them. I previously wore Vasques and found that their quality has slipped in recent years. These Zamberlans remind me of the old Sundowners.

I had been buying Vasque Sundowners for many years as an everyday boot. After Vasque manufacturing moved from Italy to China, the Sundowners didn't fit well anymore. When I found the Zamberlans and saw they were manufactured in Italy (Italian footwear generally being top quality and usually fits me well), I decided to give them a try. The quality and fit of the Zamberlan Panthers are first rate! These boots need very little break-in and, within a couple of days, I'd forget I was wearing boots. The Zamberlan Panther is an excellent everyday boot yet offers sufficient support for moderate backpacking!

This boot is the best I\'ve ever worn. I will never wear anything but Zamberlans from now on. I did not get the chance to test Zappos\' excellent return policy, because my order was prompt and accurate.

These are by far the most well constructed, high quality hiking boot I have ever come across. They have a nice high arch and conform to the feet well. A little warm, like any hiking boot, and fairly stiff when new. Good hikers right out of the box, though. Go with the euro size to figure out what you need, the US size doesn't mean much. The euro size seems to be fairly true.

I am very happy with these boots, for me the break in period was longer than I expected. My guess is that every boot has some unique qualities relating to how it fits YOUR foot. My friend bought the Vioz GT and on my feet they were comfortable out of the box. Now that my Panther's have formed to my feet I couldn't be happier. The bottom line is these are a very high quality boot in design and construction. Keep in mind that lacing technique's are very important to how a boot fits/performs. During my break in period I used probably a 1/2 dozen different lacing strategies so the tension could be dialed in in the foot section independent of the ankle.

These boots fit like a glove straight out of the box and keep feeling better every time I put them on. I hiked in my Zamberlan Panthers the first day that I owned them and came home happy and blister free. The leather is of the highest quality inside and out and the construction looks bulletproof! Hopefully, I am coming across as psyched about these Zamberlans because I am beyond my expectations. I wish I had known about this manufacturer years ago.

Why would you buy an inferior \'made in china\' pair of boots when for the same money you can have a pair of Zamberlans?\r\n\r\nThese are the best boots with no compromise in quality, effectiveness or looks. They feel like tank tracks on the feet and allow me to hit the trails or forge my own trails with confidence. Zamberlan has a customer for life in me whilst they make their boots in Italy and with this attention to quality and finish.
Brands I'd also recommend: None. Get these!

Great Old School Look - Finding a good completely black leather boot is getting difficult. This is my first pair of Zamberlan's. Good look and fit, but a bit pricey.

These boots are made very well and are very comfortable right out of the box. My issue with them is that they are so stiff and un-flexible that after wearing them for a few hours, my feet began to hurt in ways that they never have before, which I assume is from how stiff they are in certain areas. However, they don't rub or feel uncomfortable on the foot, so I am hopeful that they just need a decent break-in period. Other reviews mention that they do take a while to break in. Overall, you can definitely tell this is a quality boot. My only advice would be to NOT rely on these for a long day at work on your feet, or a hiking trip, until you've given them some time to break in. I gave them 4 stars because I totally expect them to be perfect once broken in, but I have not had them long enough to say for sure.

This is one solid boot. Love the Italian craftsmanship and the quality materials. The leather lining will form fit to your foot and will be very comfortable. The one piece upper makes for a very waterproof boot provided that you use Sno Seal or another similar product.

Purchased a pair of Panthers in October of 2010. By June of 2011 both boots had separated from the sole near the toes. I had called Zappos to see when I had purchased these, explained my issue, they offered to replace them on the spot. Incredible customer service! I have been breaking my 2nd pair in for the past week. Zappos felt the original boots were defective and gladly replaced them. I do believe this was a fluke as I've owned other hiking boots from Zamberlan which have many miles on them and they are in perfect condition. Very comfortable as it seems the original pair took longer to break in. This is possibly because I'm already used to this model. I love them, just hope they last.

Great boot, looks, comfort, support. I haven't had a single blister, and I just returned from 4 day AT hike in NJ, 45 miles and no complaints. The only two issues I have with the boot are: the leather gets all beat up, especially at the toe very quickly and ruins the look (I wish they designed toe box differently, but I think all Alpine single leather piece boots suffer from this). The other issues is the flap keeps sliding to the side. Doesn't bother the slightest, but just a minor cosmetic annoyance. Overall great boot for outdoors if you like this style.
