The department wanted to purchase a pair of cleats that would help our Firefighters keep traction when going to car accidents or other calls when there were icy conditions. We tried a couple of different brands and checked into Yak Trax as they seemed the easiest to put on or take off of our boots. We have had them for a year now and we wear them all the time going to calls. It is amazing how these help the firefighter maintain the grip while walking. The only down fall we have seen is wearing them in the station on some of the flooring they are slippery. Otherwise a great product. We are recommending to other departments in our city government to use these products.

These work best on packed and light snow. They can come off your boot in deep snow. They slide a bit on ice unless you short step. They roll a bit on concrete spots. The springs eventually rust and break. I strongly advise in more adverse conditions to go with the more expensive Kahtoola Microspikes!

You want to get the larger size if you intend to use these with boots, your regular size for sneakers or shoes. Measure your boot sole and compare it to your regular shoe to determine if you should go a size up. I did and am quite happy with it.

YakTrax defeat cabin fever! These are the only traction products I've ever used that truly deliver. Note, the package says not for indoor use and they mean it. Make sure you remove them as soon as you are indoors. YakTrax rule the winter.

These work very well for occasional traipsing across streets, sidewalks, and parking lots that are covered in ice and snow.

bought these as a gift for my husband, who decided he wanted to continue running in the winter, despite snowy/icy conditions. He loves these. They stay securely on his shoes, provide great security/grip, and since they are not spikes, he does not need to worry about damaging the cement if he runs over a bare patch, or a shoveled sidewalk.

I purchased the YakTrax last year for my daughter to wear in Colorado. I should have known a 24-year-old probably wouldn’t use them. But... I am! I had a knee replaced last summer and used the YakTrax on my boots a few weeks ago. I have never felt so secure on ice (or snow). And while I am always careful, I finally felt able to cross the street without fear of sliding (which gave me part of my knee problems to begin with). While you can remove them pretty easily, I prefer to keep them on an older pair of boots permanently to go to the mailbox or on the driveway. I wear a size 9 boot, but ordered the Medium YakTrax. With arthritis it’s difficult to stretch them onto the boot. There was no slippage on the boots.

A must for pedestrian commuters! I live in New England and walk to work - these are essential for icy/snowy days. I forgot them on one trip and took a nasty spill so I will not be without them again. They're surprisingly comfortable - but remember to take them off inside - linoleum is not your friend!!

YakTrax - These work wonderfully on ice! They provide excellent traction and you can walk confidently. They are a little slippery inside though, so if you wear them both inside and outside you need to be careful when you are on inside floors.

Some of the best money I've ever spent! Love, love, love these! I've been walking the dog 6 times a day since her surgery so we're out often, no matter the weather. I can now go out anytime, even if I can't get it all shoveled first, without fear of a fall.

Working Great! YakTrax Pro have been great to me in the month since I received them. They are extremely easy to take on and off, do not inhibit the normal walking/running motion that I have and seem to be very durable for the price. I have run in them often and have also done a large hike (both on and off trail). The traction is superb! An added benefit I have noticed, the YakTrax raises your foot just slightly and in snow that does not cover your foot, dispels it away from your shoe. They also don't slip off- the velcro strap works very well for running.

I use these when I run outside in the winter. They go on easily and are great for transitioning between snow, ice and pavement. Definitely a must have for winter runs. I don't know how they'd do on anything other than running shoes. I bought the 'Pro' because of the strap that goes over the top of the shoe. The 'Walkers' are exactly the same but don't have the strap. If you aren't running, get the 'Walkers'.

Great Winter Traction - I do recommend these and Zappos has them for a good price. I was given a pair two winters ago and I just bought my second pair. The first set is still working but is showing signs of wear and I wanted the new set ready to go. When I shovel the snow off of my steep driveway I put these on and have no problems at all.

I fell and broke my wrist 2 years ago. I was looking for something to wear for ice and snow. I bought the Yaktrax Pro. The spirals keep breaking. So, I guess it is to cold in Wisconsin to wear these. Otherwise they work really good!

Not for hard ice - I've used several brands of ice walkers and these have limitations. I find that they are not good on hard, glare ice like we've had this winter in Alaska. The crampon spikes work much better, especially if they are in the toe area combined with the wrapped wire coils on the rest of the foot. The strap across the top of the foot keeps the system securely in place.

Having some problems - I really had a problem putting these on my boots. They are very hard to put on evenly. Almost fell over on snow and ice because of this. They probably would work well if I could get them on my boots straight and even. So far no luck. Maybe I need to try a different boot, but I wanted to use them on the waterproof ones.
