About Wrangler

The Wrangler story began in 1897 with a twenty year old man named C.C. Hudson. Hudson moved to Greensboro, North Carolina and began working for an overall factory. When the factory closed in 1904, Hudson bought one of the company’s sewing machines and began his own overall company. By 1919, the sales of Hudson’s overalls were booming. Fast forward to the year 1943 and the Wrangler brand name is created. In 1947 Wrangler western jeans are introduced to the American consumer, designed by celebrity tailor Ben Lichtenstein, known as Rodeo Ben. Rodeo Ben worked with rodeo stars to make the first modern, five-pocket, straight-leg jean.

Wrangler has stayed true to its roots, continuing to make jeans in the same tradition for more than sixty years, while keeping up with the needs of the modern cowboy. Wrangler clothing is made to keep up with the tough, rugged lifestyle today’s ropers and riders. Whether you’re looking for those traditional Wrangler jeans you’ve been wearing since your childhood, or a modern western style with an edge, Wrangler has the look for you.

For decades, the Wrangler patch has stood for the authenticity that is the heart of the Western heritage. Wrangler jeans are designed to capture the freedom, independence and beauty inherent in the western lifestyle.
