Wiley X Eyewear Reviews
I just bought these and am very pleased. The transition lens was a desired feature - these glasses were more than double what I wanted to spend but when I learned of the safety features such as shatter proof and impact resistance as well as the quality of the eyeglasses, I decided the cost was worth the investment. So far, no complaints, only positive experience but I am only a week in. The Echo LA Grey Lens with Gloss Black Frame was what I purchased - they seemed a little bulky to me but I liked the protection I felt with the secure fit and was convinced to purchase them after the cashier told me they were her favorite pair and she liked the style and the way they looked on me. The wife agreed, so with two female thumbs up, I am satisfied.
I have a pair of Wiley X shields that I use for motorcycle riding, it has a rubber gasket which keeps out wind and debris from my eyes. But they tend to fog up when I'm off my bike. This pair has all the same features and quality, but the design allows more circulation around the eyes, so they are great for use on and off the bike. Having the option to change out the lenses is a nice touch, I'm looking forward to trying these on the shooting range. The straight temples make the glasses ride up high on the bridge of my nose but as long as they're pushed tight to my face, it's not really a problem.
These fit my narrower face pretty well. The actual lens shading in this particular style is not very dark, though. If you need something darker, you might look at some of the other styles.
Very good for cloudy overcast days. I use these for protection when I practice shooting. Glasses hold their fit very well when I sweat. I highly recommend.
I don't think the 4.84% light transmission is accurate. I've had sunglasses that were much darker than the ones I got from Wiley X. However, I'm not returning them since they fit well and look great. The inserts are a little uncomfortable, but I don't need them.
Second pair I bought are the light adjusting pair of the Echo. I really like these glasses. They are my twilight to night glasses. When the sun is slightly out to dark. These glasses get dark enough for the sun and the inherent tint is next to nothing at night. Nuff Said.
These glasses are GREAT! I have worn Oakley's for years, and these are second to none. I have a medium size rounded face and these fit very well. I bought these to find a good solution to riding glasses while riding my Harley. I wear them with or without the foam insert with great results. The secure strap works very well too.
These glasses work well. My eyes did not get irritated at all. Usually after a ride I look like I am high, my eyes are so red. With the Echo glasses, my eyes get the right amount of air. As far as comfort, I feel I have a medium size head and they seem to squeeze my noggin tightly. Overall, a great pair of riding glasses.
These are excellent glasses, are lightweight, fit well and keep the wind from drying the contact lenses in my eyes.
I have some of these glasses with transitions lenses and they are the clearest view glasses I have ever owned. I usually use them with the foam dust guards in place and they keep the wind out of my eyes when I ride my motorcycle.
Buyer beware! If the temples (the arms of of the sunglasses) break, you can't buy just the arms, you have to buy the entire sunglasses again. I've had 2 pairs in 2 years. The first pair broke 4 days before the warranty expired and the second pair broke 6 days after and they won't sell just the temples so I'm out about a lot of money for my prescription Wiley X sunglasses. On this pair, there is a design flaw where the T-plex strap connects to the temple. That's the weak point on the temples and that's where mine broke each time was right in the middle of that hole.
The pollen blowing around my house at this time of year was so bad that I could not go out for a walk without being in tears from my contact lens. The AirRage glasses totally solved the problem. They would serve anyone well who was in a windy, dusty environment. Much more style for a casual environment than motorcycle goggles, which was the principal alternative I considered.
For sunglasses they're fine but for keeping the wind off your eyes when riding a motorcycle they don't work for me. I don't tear as bad as with other glasses but for all the money I invested in these (prescription lenses) they don't work good enough to justify the price. Be careful about what you buy these for.
I've been searching online for these for a while. These are military issued goggles. I bought these because flashing lights cause me to have seizures and I had to attend my cousin's wedding and that place was full of flashing lights. They worked better than traditional sunglasses. Well worth the money. It looks like the beach wont be a problem for me anymore either. I'd recommend these 100%.
What I like about Jakes's is that it is the only sunglasses I own that fit in my Shoe helmet. They are great sunglasses, military uses them.I needed these because the Jakes with transitions lenses did not get dark enough in the sun. Overall quality sunglasses, will continue buying Wiley X.
I don't like to be that guy with reviews, but I have to comment, I buy American, and only American. I know of this company via military, and assumed they were American made. I received the glasses and they were flimsy frames with Made in Taiwan painted on the side. They weren't horrible, but for cheap plastic, and made in Taiwan... They were definitely a must-return for me. I printed the shipping label with ease and sent the box back 2 days after I got it. The problem? Its 3 weeks later and I haven't seen a refund. Luckily it's only this price.
These are not what I expected at all. I've worn Ray Ban, Randolph Engineering, Maui Jim, Costa Del Mar, and even Oakley. All of these feel and look a lot better than these "Slays". But these Wiley X shades felt ridiculously cheap. I know they are ballistic grade, but they frames feel like junk (picture gas station sunglasses). The lenses are not dark at all. What seems like a dark lens is not. People can see your eyes through the lenses. Also... ade in Taiwan? I thought this was an American Made product (considering the military attachment), but they are made in Taiwan. Sorry Wiley X, I'm sending them back.
Great glasses from Wiley X! They fit very well with or without the foam gasket in place. The frames are very solid, and the lenses are durable. The only potential downside is that the lenses are a little too light on very bright days, but that is to be expected with any light adjusting lens. I've always been a fan of Oakley, but these are my new go to glasses for riding! The iridium coating that Oakley uses on their lenses is great, except that it scratches and chips way too easily, making them unacceptable for riding.
At first when I opened them I was a little disappointed they did not seem any different from cheaper sunglasses; however, when I walked out side I saw (pun) why I paid so much money for them. The clarity is amazing. Its as if your watching a movie and everything is sunny an bright but you don't have to squint. They don't darken your vision like the cheap pair sunglasses. Take care of your eyes and get them.
I've bought several pairs of these sunglasses. We ride Harleys and they're great for bike riding. The cushions blocks out the air. Without the cushions they're fashionable and really cut out the sun glare. I couldn't recommend them more. As usual, Zappos delivery was fast and awesome!
