Wellensteyn

Wellensteyn was founded more than 60 years ago in Hamburg, Germany by Adolf Wuttke and originally produced deep-submerge mechanical instruments designed to withstand the rigors of the North Sea. Wuttke soon realized that the technicians and dockhands in the shipyards of Germany were in need of sturdy, water-resistant work wear, and Wellensteyn started producing jackets composed of super-durable waxed sailcloth. The result is the legendary Brandungsparka jacket.

Fast forward to the current era, where Wuttke’s grandson, Thomas, has conceived a new generation of outstanding jackets. His design has evolved into a “fusion of function and fashion”. Wellensteyn has been a success throughout Europe and is now poised for prominence in North America.

Wellensteyn jackets provide the ultimate in functionality. They are waterproof, windproof, utilize welded seams and are constructed with a wide array of proprietary polyblend materials. Wellensteyn also engineers their jackets with optimal ergonomics, convenient zippered pockets, and the occasional snow skirt, locking drawstring, removable hood, and hook-and-loop sleeve cuff.
