At Zappos.com, our number one focus is the customer experience.
This means having the best selection available and providing the best service possible to our customers. Our warehouse currently houses over 1.5 million pairs of shoes.

We initially looked at the possibility of
outsourcing our warehouse and fulfillment functions, but in the end we decided that we
wanted to have complete control over the customer experience.
This way, we can continually work on improving the customer experience.

As an e-commerce company, we believe that the ability to get our products to our
customers quickly, efficiently, and accurately is key to our success.
We have
invested a significant amount of our resources into running our own warehousing
and fulfillment operations.

We are currently running a 280,000 square foot facility in Kentucky.
Although our corporate offices are based in Las Vegas, we chose Kentucky to house our warehouse operations because of its central location.
We can reach more customers more quickly by
shipping from Kentucky.

Receiving & Stocking
Every morning, several trucks arrive to drop off shoes that have been ordered from our vendors.
On an average day, we receive
and process thousands of pairs of shoes.
|
Each shoe that comes in is then put on the shelves in our warehouse.
We scan each individual
shoe so that we can update the inventory availability in our database and on our web site.

Picking & Shipping
Every worker in our Picking & Shipping department understands
the importance of getting shoes to our customers quickly.
|
We ship out thousands of pairs of
shoes every day.
|
All expedited orders that are
placed by 3:00 PM Pacific are picked and shipped out the same day.
|
Orders with the free standard
shipping option are shipped out within 1-2 business days, so that they will reach the customer within
4-5 business days.
|
We have made
arrangements with UPS to have a full-size trailer truck parked at our warehouse
to hold our outgoing packages. This enables us to ship right up until the last
minute when the truck leaves.
