These are super comfortable shorts. I am a petite female size 5. I am probably truly a size 3 but I like my pants relaxed. I ordered these shorts in size 30 (20 big kids), and they fit exactly as I imagined. I normally wear a 29 (18 big kids), so these are a tiny bit large for me, but they are true to size, and I love them.
