I read a lot about barefoot shoes before deciding to purchase one from Vivobarefoot. This brand, it seems, almost unanimously gets the highest ratings from both athletes and non-athletes looking for quality barefoot shoes. I am in the latter category, but I have chronic foot, back and neck pain. I will admit that I was reluctant to believe that a shoe like this could be comfortable and a cure-all, but I have to say: it's amazing. In fact, it's energizing/liberating to feel barefoot, but still enjoy the benefits of something covering and protecting one's foot. This shoe weighs practically nothing, and is truly designed to be completely unobtrusive. Frankly, this truly is -- in terms of functionality -- the perfect shoe. Barefoot shoes really will make your back, foot and neck pain go away. Seriously. Not in a split second, but over time. I am a complete sneaker addict, and have collected them practically my whole life. Fashionable stuff. Stuff that is incredibly painful, eventually. I would rather suffer in misery than wear those 5 Finger atrocities. The Freud is not beautiful or sexy, but I will say this: it's pretty unobtrusive, and I don't think it's ugly (unlike the hideous 5 Fingers). That's as far as I will go. Also, I am not embarrassed to wear it. If Vivobarefoot ever makes a shoe that's truly fashionable (which is to say: please!), I will buy it the day it hits the shelves. In the meantime, I am thankful to own the Freud -- a wonderfully comfortable shoe.

I've been a fan of Vivo for a long time; I have an older pair of Vivo's original Oak model and they are beautifully made. When it was time for another pair of shoes, they were the first company I set my sights on. These, though, these are sloppy garbage. The stitching is poor and uneven with long, loose threads just hanging out underneath the insole; the glue used to mate the sole to the body of the shoe seeped out between the seams and glopped all around the lines; it was just generally poorly constructed, with components that seemed ill matching and unfitted. Something happened to this company's quality, and not for the better. It's a shame, because the original Oak model is my favorite pair of shoes I've ever owned.

Another solid shoe from Vivo. I own several pairs of their shoes and like all of them so far. Some more, some less. This one was not the most comfortable of all initially, but after breaking it in for about a week, it feels more comfortable now. A good casual all-around simple shoe.

I'd also recommend: Vibram Fivefingers

I absolutely love these shoes. I have a strong affinity for barefoot/minimalist footwear, and am always looking for shoes that are minimalist and stylish. These shoes are comfortable, flexible, and they seem to be pretty durable. I recommend these shoes!

These are great barefoot shoes, offering comfort and style without the "duck feet" look of some other VivoBarefoot models. Highly recommended.
