I looked everywhere (clicks and bricks) for this boot. Nowhere, in all of Dallas Texas, shoppers mecca. I found them at Zappos and at a discount, no less. Ordered on Saturday afternoon, arrived that Monday. Amazing!

After a long, frustrating search for classic engineer/motorcycle boots I finally found the Vintage Shoe Company and their 'Elijah Harness Engineer in chocolate brown. As soon as I effortlessly pulled them on I felt as if I had owned these tough classics for years. They are a perfect example of hand-worked, limited production boots with the highest quality leather used for the uppers and the smooth calfskin lined interiors. The sizing is accurate and the overall dimensions are forgiving for most any foot issues. To be honest, I first thought they were made in Italy due to their instantly comfortable and perfectly constructed design using quality tanned and worked leather. When I saw the 'Made in the USA' stamp I was so impressed and proud to think that this level of boot making is still available here. I like the look of similar boots made by the Frye Shoe Company but often the initial try-on is a struggle and the time it takes to 'break-in' the boots is often long and painful. We put up with that because we often don't have any other choices. Zappos has changed all that. I did, in fact, order several pairs of Frye boots...'Rogan, Brando, Jackson' etc but there was always some issue with out-of-the-box fit and difficult wear-ability which put me off the deal. Now my search for the perfect engineer/motor-cycle boot is over and I've found a great American boot company still doing what has been done with pride in this country for over three hundred years!

So happy with these boots. I was a little worried that the fit would be tight, but the opposite is true. If anything they are a little wider and roomier than I expected. The heel is a little higher than I'm used to so my feet took a few wears to get used to that. But since I look boss I don't care.

As a woman with wide feet, I often wear men's shoes. I was surprised at how narrow these were. The leather is very soft, though, and is stretching to accommodate my bunions, and the soles wide enough to provide good support. I like the look of the boots, and am happy with their ever increasing comfort.
