I bought these for a 4-day backpacking trip in Shenandoah National Park. I hiked up to 10 miles a day with a 40-lb pack; lots of rocky climbs and stream crossings. These required minimal break-in were comfortable out of the box. The fit is good, had minimal hot spots. Vasque seems to be one of the few manufacturers that make wide sizes (I wish other companies would offer wide sizes). My only complaint is that the rubber toe bumper already started separating from the leather (after only 3 days). I'll try to exchange these for a new pair and see if the separation occurs again. Overall, a nice looking, comfortable boot; however the construction may be an issue. Zappos rocks!

Great boot! The right warmth and weight. My feet stayed dry, everything you could want from a boot of this type...and I've tried many.
