Before I begin to write about the quality of this boot, I want to caution some people to order a half size smaller than their actual shoe size. This is a well made boot that is comfortable to wear from the onset. Zappos does provide an excellent return policy as long as you don't wear the boot outside. Best of luck.

I've had this boot for 15 years now and it is still the most comfortable and most rugged piece of equipment I own. I'm not replacing mine by buying another pair. I'm planning for the apocalypse when they quite producing these. Next to my dogs these boots truly are man's best friends.

I usually use hiking boots for all my activities, work, home shores, vacation - outdoors- and when I ride my motorcycle. I was looking for a leather boot so that would provide a cleaner look for work. I have long narrow feet with weak ankles, so I prefer to use high top shoes and I am very particular with the shoes I buy. I have always worn Asolo boots (Asolo FSN 95 and FSN 85) and they are great boots. They are very comfortable, durable and they protect my feet very good keeping them warm and dry even when I ride in the cold rain. I considered the Asolo TPS520 GV, but they are expensive, so decided to give the Vasque Sundowner GTX a try. I was concerned about some of the comments regarding the book being made in China; this should not be a concern. I ordered my Vasque boots from Zappos on December 23 and received on the 25 as promised and with free shipping. Great service, I did not believe I would receive them for Christmas - already gift wrapped with a painted bow on the box and I did not have to wait long lines at the mall - great! The Vasque boot felt very good right out of the box. It provided a good snug comfortable fit and they look great. Even though my wife does not agree, I feel I can even use them with a coat and tie. They look like a well constructed shoe and a think they will be as good as the Asolos.

Vasque's last. This boot inspires loyalty and affection! When it comes to comfort and performance I don't know of a better hiking boot. Both my husband and I bought these Vasque hiking boots at least 6 or 7 years ago, maybe more. They are waterproof. They really do keep your feet dry and are perfectly suited to our Pacific Northwest weather, which includes more than soaking rain - think muddy trails, crossing streams, snow and rock scrambling. A few weeks ago I noticed my husband's boots were looking tired. I thought for a nano-second about getting him a different boot. But when you find something that serves its function so perfectly, you need a really good reason to change. I bought him a pair just like his old pair. He loves them. I'm thinking about getting myself another pair, but I just saddle soaped my old pair and am not ready to part with them yet. They are boots that inspire devotion.

I got my first pair of Sundowners in college upstate NY and they were great for making it to class in the icy snowy conditions. They were also great for basement keg parties where the floor is covered with beer. I hiked a few peaks in the Adirondacks. These boots are super comfortable and will last years of anything you can think of. My new Sundowners broke in quickly and we've picked up right where we left off.

These are my first pair of Sundowner's and they are great. The boot seems very well made even though they're made in China. I normally ware a 10E in Red Wings but a 10D in these boots fit perfect. I'm hoping Zappos will get the new Vasque Bitterroot boot so I can order them. Zappos has the best service online and I will be shopping here for all my boots and shoes. Thanks Zappos!

I'm returning this pair because the boot feels narrow and pinches at the ball of my foot. Fits pretty well on the rest of the foot. Style is fine too. Just beware that it runs a little narrow.

Just received the boots and I usually wear a size 8 (or 8 1/2 if Nike as they run small), and my foot was swimming in these boots! So is a half size larger then expected - otherwise are great and I have reordered the correct size.

Most comfortable/ best boots I've ever owned. Last longer than any boots I've had in the past. My feet stay dry. Hands down the best pair of boots I have put on my feet. This is the third pair I have owned; the last pair lasted two years.

The Zappos team is the best that I have ever seen! As a young man I was taught the importance of polite service while working in a small town grocery store. This polite service attitude served me very well as a Real Estate Sales Broker for 28 years. The Zappos team has all the bases covered. In the process of ordering a pair of shoes and returning them for another size I was blown away with their excellent service. I'll never buy any other boot but Vasque Sundowners. I've had the same pair 8+ years now, logging I don't know how many miles over rough terrain. I use an off-the-shelf insert in mine, and the fit is perfect. The uppers and sole are very durable and the boots have given only perfect service all these years and miles. Keep the uppers treated and they will outlast you. I used to work at an outdoors shop and would compare these boots side by side with other premium brands. Feature for feature, these are the best mid-weight boots out there. Buy them.

My feet are rather narrow, so I\'d really prefer a slightly narrower boot. Nevertheless, these were extremely comfortable right out of the box. My first hike in them was six miles; my second was thirteen. My last pair of this same model lasted twenty years, so my expectations are high.
