I chose these sweet babies after much deliberation and window shopping. I work in a kitchen and skate shoes are usually pretty great for this line of work because they are fairly grippy but light at the same time. I sat on the fence for a minute trying to decide if I wanted these or Half-Cabs, and while you cannot really go wrong with Half-Cabs, I am glad that I decided on these. Pros: Classic style construction here. The OG Vans gum sole is just as good as ever, and the white rubber strip along with a little black strip above firmly cement the base to the upper. I can tell already you will not get a flappy sole skating this shoe. The padding in the collar is just right, and the tongue is padded just enough so that it gives you top of foot protection without feeling like you are wearing a hamster mattress. The padding extends down into each side of the shoe also, which does not hurt my feelings. Metal eyelets for the laces always win me over. I kinda hate having to punch laces through suede. Perhaps you are more patient. Red rubber tag on the back heel. Tiniest little flare, but it is a pro for me. Hidden secret and maybe best part the removable insole is the whole deal. It is firm enough that you can feel the board, but way better than flat old skools or something like that. Moving on. Cons: I usually fit a size 11 for Vans, but they are designed for slimmer feet than mine. No big deal, just consider yourself warned my fellow wide foot folk. Good toe space, though. Enough to wiggle my piggies, but they still feel quality snug. Stiff suede at the toe, but no padding. If you are doing a lot of flat land toe based flips these might wear out kinda quick. Maybe. These shoes do not breathe whatsoever. The holes you see in the instep are not holes at all, I do not even get why they put that in the design. They are more like just a waste of thread. Last but not least, the canvas cable you see at the top of the panels on each side of the shoe is one strand that also winds around the back of the shoe. It is a strong canvas bead, and it is about as friendly as airplane cable. The skin at my Achilles' tendon is raw, but it is my fault. Just wear socks that are tall enough. That is my review. I hope it helps!

One of the worst shoes I have ever tried, they are made cheap, are very uncomfortable and cause foot pain.

About to return these. Happy with the product itself but there is a stain on one of the shoes right out of the box... Didn't even try them on.

I love Zappos! Whatever I order shows up at my house in 2 days. I had a small problem with a Christmas Delivery, and they were quick with solving my problems. If they would take on the World Peace problem, we would be bathed in sweetness and light!

Awesome product. These have padding where some of the other Van's do not. Great purchase.
