I have owned Tumi bags all my life, so when it came to buying a backpack for work I looked at Tumi and this bag looked sleek enough. Horrible bag. It's worse than a cheap Targus bag for $20. There is no padding for the bag, and the shoulder straps are poorly constructed, designed and the padding on the straps is virtually non-existent. I had bought it to help my backache but I suspect this bag worsened my backache... I made a enormous mistake and am now stuck with an expensive paperweight. I wrote the Tumi CEO also about it. I was a lifetime Tumi Customer, but no more

Don't know what the 1-star reviewer was talking about. This is exactly what I wanted: a mid-sized, trim, professional and tailored looking backpack that holds my laptop and peripherals nicely in a well-padded pocket, leaving plenty of room for 9X12 folders, a paperback book, and a lot of other miscellaneous stuff in the multiple other pockets. The padding on the shoulders is thick and comfortable, so I'm wondering if this guy is talking about another backpack. My only con is that the optional carry strap is not removable, so has to be carried in the side pack as extra weight. I'll never use it, so likely will cut it off... carefully. Then I can use it's long pocket on the side for something else.
