These snowshoes are a great idea. My son was really interested in trying them on and I think a large part is thanks to the light up lights. I haven't tried them in the snow, but they seem OK. The only problem I have with these is that the strap to secure boots is way too short. My son is only 4 and the straps barely fit over his new (Tundra) winter boots. I read that these are supposed to be good until a child is 8? If so, the straps are going to be a big problem because I can't imagine them fitting over the boots of a 6 year old, much less 8.

If you're a large woman and the 22 inch size isn't big enough for you, don't bother ordering the men's 24 inch size. I wear pretty bulky winter boots, and the binding on these is just way, way too large for me.

Best snowshoes ever! I've tried MSR (REI brand) and they sucked pretty bad. I also tried a pair similar to these, but a different brand and Tubbs are just superior. You can do packed trails in national parks or hit the back-country on your own. A good versatile snowshoe for beginners to advanced users. The only person who this isn't for would be a serious expedition snowshoer scaling mountains for days on end.

I purchase these Tubbs about 4 years ago and I go on a few all day snow shoe hikes a year. I love the easy strap in/out system that really does keep me secure all day. I like to go to peaks and these are almost like wearing crampons when you get to that steep icy wall just near the top. Have always been very comfortable. The plastic makes a little noise as you walk on firm snow. These are not made for deep powder so as expected you'll be sinking deep when your breaking trail after a big snowfall.
