Never had a pair of Tretorns growing up but always wanted a pair...finally crossed it off the list and I m happy I have. The shoes are perfectly light and comfortable...a great summer shoe. They fit roomy which is a good thing as my feet are on the wide side. Also picked up a pair for my wife. She has normal width feet and she loves them also. Again just an all around comfortable shoe...great for summer.

You are right! These are completely different from the Tretorns you could get a couple years ago. Those were called Gullwing, sometimes retailers call the new one Gullwing, but they aren't. Anyway, they had more padding around the outside of the shoe and on the tongue. Much better quality, but Tretorn does not seem to make them anymore. I am so sad. Amazon.com has a couple in white. With navy in sizes 10 and 11, but nothing in smaller sizes. Oh well.

I wasn\'t very impressed with this shoe. I found the inside of the upper to be a little rough, and it was also a bit cramped in the toes. Maybe someone with narrower feet than mine might find it to be more comfortable.

I was excited to see these shoes offered on Zappos.com. When I was in high school these were the only shoes I wore. I ordered a pair to take on vacation with me. I received them in the mail and the next day I left for Walt Disney World. I didn’t have a chance to break them in, but I wore them to the parks anyway. I wore the shoes without socks and my feet did not hurt at the end of the day. They are really comfortable.

These are not the same as the "old school" Tretorns we remember despite the outside appearance. They don t have the same padding on the insoles or the tongue or the same cloth interior. They remind me more of upscale Keds. Do they still make the "classic" Tretorn tennis shoe? This is not the same thing. I was truly disappointed.

Additional Brand Information

Founded by Henry Dunker at the end of the 19th century in Sweden, Tretorn was an innovator in footwear from the moment it was launched. Having built up a reputation for dependability and discreet luxury with its iconic rubber boots, Tretorn was also the first company to launch the pressureless tennis ball.

The company's association with life on and off court rapidly created something of a cult following surrounding the brand, a status which was firmly secured when Wimbledon winners took to the grass in Tretorn in the 1970s. Inspired by the high profile and success of the brand, Tretorn's canvas and leather Nylites were the only shoe in which to be seen wearing on North American campuses throughout the 1980s. Lean and understated, the Tretorn sneaker was the first luxury sports shoe on the market.

Tretorn’s expertise in rubber-made products demonstrates a consistent commitment to quality and brand over hype, offering a collection most appreciated by those with a practical sensibility and a lifestyle largely enjoyed outside. Because Tretorn celebrates a lifestyle, largely lived outside, Tretorn ensures that labor is not exploited and the production methods are continuously revised for the good of the consumers and the environment. This commitment to sustainability and safe products is embodied in their PVC-Free policy for all of Tretorn men's shoes and Tretorn women's shoes. It is a business practice for which Tretorn is widely recognized as industry leaders.

Tretorns not the same. Bought a pair to replace my long loved Tretorns. The new ones came and the fabric is thin. These are a watered down version of my old ones. Won't buy them anymore.

Very nice shoe. Looks great and is comfortable. I bought 1/2 size bigger than normal due to the other reviews. This worked for me although I did add those little behind-the-heel things. With that, they fit very well. I wouldn’t go smaller.

I am disappointed with my Tretorns. They aren't as I remember them from the early 80's. It seems as if the sides are weaker/flimsier. I also remember there being terry cloth on the inside making them really comfortable and these new ones are less so. I want my old ones from 1982!!!

Cute, light sneakers - These are unique and a nice alternate to my usual Chucks. They are very comfortable, and the yellow is a lot of fun-- a nice way to dress up a pair of jeans. The only possibly negative thing: they are rather light-weight, which means I'm really not expecting them to last forever.

Still good after all these years - These shoes are a flash back to the '80s. They are still comfortable and look great. I bought them about a week ago and have been wearing them every day since. They are holding up nicely so far.

Long Time Wearer - These are the greatest tennis shoe that I have ever worn. Have been wearing them for over 16 years. Was so happy to find them online as I haven't been able to buy them at local stores. I always have two pair, an everyday pair and a "dress up" pair. I would encourage every tennis shoe wearer to try them.

These shoes fit appropriately and were comfortable, BUT! They left horrible black scuff marks on my floors, which were very difficult to clean up. I returned the shoes.

Runs small, otherwise fine sneakers - I had heard that Tretorns were now running small, so I ordered a 9B. I used to get them in 8 1/2 B. The 9 is about 1/2" shorter and narrower than my old 8 1/2s. They just barely fit. Otherwise, it is the same great Tretorn sneaker.

Best Tennis Shoe EVER! I have worn this tennis shoe since its inception and along with it have tried an occasional other shoe. NO other shoe can compare with the endurance, comfort, or lasting looks of the original Tretorn. Tretorn holds up and performs just as I need and want it to do. It is the shoe I wear and always recommend. Paula B

YES! It's good to see them back in stock! I bought my last pair in 2003 and they're still holding strong. I usually wear an 8.5 women's but as with all my Puma shoes I had to go a full size up. They're super comfortable and great for walking around. Now I can finally have a backup pair!

Not the same - These shoes seem flimsier than the Tretorn Nylites I have had for the past 10-12 years. My old ones were padded somewhat with terry cloth, which made them very comfortable. These have no padding and the cushioning around the ankle is not as thick. Also, I think the decoration on the side is plastic now but I think it used to be leather. The size seemed to run a little large.
