The company's association with life on and off court rapidly created something of a cult following surrounding the brand, a status which was firmly secured when Wimbledon winners took to the grass in Tretorn in the 1970s. Inspired by the high profile and success of the brand, Tretorn's canvas and leather Nylites were the only shoe in which to be seen wearing on North American campuses throughout the 1980s. Lean and understated, the Tretorn sneaker was the first luxury sports shoe on the market.
Tretorn’s expertise in rubber-made products demonstrates a consistent commitment to quality and brand over hype, offering a collection most appreciated by those with a practical sensibility and a lifestyle largely enjoyed outside. Because Tretorn celebrates a lifestyle, largely lived outside, Tretorn ensures that labor is not exploited and the production methods are continuously revised for the good of the consumers and the environment. This commitment to sustainability and safe products is embodied in their PVC-Free policy for all of Tretorn men's shoes and Tretorn women's shoes. It is a business practice for which Tretorn is widely recognized as industry leaders.

I usually wear a size 10.5. I ordered an 11.5 according to a review stating they run really small. They were a size too big. Order to your normal size.

I have been buying and wearing these Tretorn canvas sneakers for over 15 years. I am very sad to say that the quality has greatly deteriorated in the last two to three years. The very comfortable padding was taken out and now I find the rubber soles come partially unglued from the canvas top after two or three washes (this did not used to happen). And the top area around the ankle seems to fray more quickly. I have been looking for an attractive and comfortable alternative sneaker but no success as yet. These were great sneakers and the manufacturer has made a very bad decision to lower quality to save and/or make more money. The quality should have been maintained and (if necessary) the price increased.

I fully agree with Linda T. I've worn Tretorns for decades. But the current owners (Puma?) have opted to cheapen the material, remove the padding and even eliminated the strip that keeps the laces in place. What was once a great shoe, is now a cheap knockoff. I've been searching (in vain) for anyone selling the originals. I have one left. I never wear it; it's become a collector's item. Shame on the manufacturer for ruining a great shoe.

While this may not have the comfort of your old Tretorns from the 80's, give it a few days, and it will feel like your old friend of days past. This is one of the greatest shoes ever made. It's simple design, stylish look, and comfort make it a classic. The Nylite looks great with every outfit from shorts, to khakis, to jeans. I get compliments all the time on this timeless classic. The only con, is the off-white color.

I recently bought a pair of these and was really surprised by the comfort, almost like wearing a slipper with more cushioning. I agree that they are not meant for serious sports but as a basic sneaker for walking it's an excellent shoe. It does run a size small though. I'm usually 10.5 and I needed an 11.5
