Overall:

Overall great shoe, especially for fall and winter! Here's the breakdown on Fit and Style: Fit: Shoes run 1/2 a size long and the width feels pretty snug, at first, for a "D". I usually wear a 10, but had to return my first purchase for 9.5. This is because of the shape of the shoe that accentuates the toe. The width overall didn't bother me because as they break in you can tell that they will become almost custom fitted. Style: The split toe gives this shoe a unique look. The leather is low gloss, but stylish. The best part is the knobby soles that are all the rage in recent GQ issues. Not only are they comfortable, but they give you added grip on wet pavement!

These shoes are great! I bought them in an 8 and they looked big, but when I put them on they are perfect. Maybe wear a slightly thicker sock than usual, but these look awesome with nice jeans and suits. It took me a few pair to land the right ones, but these are so comfortable and stylish.

I bought these shoes at the end of May '09. I really liked them. They are comfortable, look good, and are great for travel because you can easily get them on and off. But this week (Sept '09) the front part of the sole on one of the shoes started to separate from the leather. That is less than four months of not that frequent wear. For the price I expected better quality. Not sure I see myself purchasing any more To Boot shoes in the future.

Runs about 0.5 size too large. I've walked up to about 1 mile in these, stood in them at a parade for about 2 hours in about 85 degree weather. Very comfortable in every respect including wear and breathability. Very good looking, if you don't mind the "Moses" look. Leather looks and feels expensive.

The reviews of this product were very helpful. I did order a size smaller than I usually do and the length is good. The instep is not; I have a high instep and this sandal doesn't.

The Perfect Boot?I always thought that Bally's were the best shoes for overall style, quality, and price. But To Boot New York shoes are amazing. The Italian leather is second to none. Very soft and just has that elegant but wearable look. I used to wear cowboy boots a lot but they do seem dated and out of place more often than not. Plus they never wear well with casual or dress pants. These boots have it all – style, construction and feel both inside and out. Plus the leather smells great and feels even better to the touch. They fit amazing well, just like a glove. They do not look like a boot until you put your feet up on the desk and they get noticed. The sale price is amazing for a pair of boots of this quality. I have never been truly in love with a pair of boots made of plain leather but To Boot has really shown what an Italian boot can be. Anything from sandals to shoes, they make the best. Needless to say, these come out for only very special occasions. Be prepared for questions and compliments when wearing a pair of To Boot New York boots or shoes.

Leather and finish are excellent, but shoe sole is so thin there is almost no cushioning. Looks nice for dress, but when wearing all day, you feel it. I only suggest short term wearing for dress events, not sturdy enough for a normal work day. Felt good out of box so surprised at how uncomfortable it was for longer term wear. Heels wore out in less than one year with part-time use.

Very sharp, shoe with a contemporary take on a classic. They can go from casual Friday to a black tie event. A very versatile shoe that should get a lot of use.

Great shoes w/ Classic Look - These are great shoes. The leather is very soft and breaks in well. Would definitely recommend to others. They do rub a bit on my heel but I wear a band aid and it's no problem. Just part of breaking in though. A great classic look.

Great pair of boots, excellent classic style, immediately comfortable, and goes great with a nice pair of jeans when out on the town. I typically wear a size 8.5D and the 8.0D fit perfectly. And of course Zappos service is excellent.

First time dress boot owner - Having shopped around from time to time and never settling on a dress/casual boot I decided to try these. The break in time was 0. They were comfortable and really fit well. They're a beautifully made and comfortable boot. Glad I bought them, and yes I would recommend them to anyone seeking comfortable footwear with style in mind.

Update of ancient style - I have had over the years many versions of this classical Greek/Roman scandal. I love its look and its simplicity and close relationship to the human foot - literally, wrappings around a foot. Terrific. To Boot recent version of this scandal is beautiful and of course beautifully crafted however I think it was an error to elongate the shape as the modern shoe wants to do. On other more formal shoes, the "pointed" toe has its look and that is good but on this basic peasant shoe it is wrong to my eye. Therefore it also some to do with comfort, like there is more shoe than there is foot. I will enjoy wearing the To Boot New York Athens I am certain.

Beautiful, high quality sandal - The leather on this sandal is top of the line and has an exceptional finish. Very luxurious. Comfortable too. Best sandals I ever owned. I ordered size 12 but they ran small. I exchanged them (with free shipping both ways) for size 13 and they fit great.

To Boot New York - Being asked by Zappos.com to write a few short words, I would say that I am very pleased with the boots from To Boot New York. The quality is there in every way. A good sole too for the winter (not for the slushy days, but for the periodic slick spots on what you assume is an otherwise safe walkway). The boots fit like a glove, cradling one's feet in in footwear that you could truly wear all day in perfect comfort. The quality of leather on the Italian-made boot is top-notch. It is a great look for dress-casual and a style which should purdure past the typical fad-looks of so many of today's choices from less fashionable manufactures.

To Boot Sandals - It’s very soft and easy to wear. I had to take half size smaller than normal. The perfect men's sandal. The center strap up the front tends to move to the side making the sandal look misaligned, but I intend to stitch it down in the hopes of fixing this problem.

Don't do it!!!Okay, you can do it if you'll only wear these periodically. I'm the kind of person that wears the same pair of boots to work every day except Friday, and these lasted about 6 months before the soles starting coming off. Um... a lot of money for 6 months? No thanks. Switched over to an almost identical Donald J. Pliner and haven't looked back.

Great boot, although not rust brown...I've been an ardent Zappos customer for more than 5 years and this is the first time I've been disappointed - not with the shoe, but with the description. You can't go wrong with To Boot New York and the Hugh model is no an exception. Exceptional construction; finest materials; great fit. If you wear a size 12 To Boot oxford (like the Austin), I recommend ordering 1/2 size smaller. As for the color, there's no way the color is "rust brown". More like "weathered cordovan" - it's much red than brown. Buyer beware.

Quality, Looks, & Italian Made!The Athens is the perfect all around sandal. It is lighter and less mass than a typical Teva or Clarks fisherman style sandal. The look is also a bit more formal than your typical urban sandal but has a nice masculine flair. So if you’re not walking on the beach, these are great for urban trekking around town or for nighttime wear. The leather is amazing and the stitching is perfect... Top quality and of course they are Italian made. And the soles are actual rubber and not just some laboratory elastomer – when have you ever seen that? The Velcro closure makes taking them off and on at airports or around the house a breeze. The sizing is overly large. I wear an 11.5 and had to get size 10s that are perfect! Zappos return policy allowed the exchange without a hassle to get the right fit. If you are even considering this sandal, buy it! Yes they are a bit more than you would think of spending but quality never comes cheap. You will not second guess your decision.

Almost.....Boots are a size larger than listed, an 8.5 fits like a 9.5. After finally receiving the size that fit, I discovered that there was a flaw on the back of one of the boots. Otherwise, this is a nice looking boot.

Size warning - They said these shoes ran 1/2 size too large so since I am normally a 9 or 9 1/2, I ordered a size 9, then an 8 1/2, Then an 8 and finally got a pair of 7 1/2's that fit. Note: both the 8 & the 8 1/2 were marked as euro size 41 and were the same size (8 1/2's came from Nordstrom.com) ZAPPOS SERVICE BLEW NORDSTROM"S AWAY!!!! ZAPPOS SERVICE WAS EASY AND EXCELLENT THROUGHOUT ALL MY EXCHANGES. Shipments were virtually overnight in each case.
