A great casual shoe that has clean lines and can be dressed up or down. Super comfortable and fits like a million bucks. I'd give it 6 stars, but that's not an option.

I am not sure why To Boot cannot get their sizing somewhat standardized. I normally wear an 8D, towards the wider end of that range. According to what I have read about sizing these boots, people suggest ordering down a full size. Since I would not mind a bit of extra width, I just ordered an 8. I knew this would run long, with To Boot's weird sizing. That is OK though. This was altogether a bad assumption. Even though the boot is a bit long, just as I knew it would be, it is far narrower than I would expect. It is far too too tight for my upper-D width foot even though I am a full size larger than is suggested. It will need to go back. Also, there is no padding at all inside. The sole is not a commando style, but it is some type of rubberized plastic. It is harder than a typical rubber so you will get less padding and it is slicker than typical commando rubber. The leather itself looks wonderful, and is really soft. In some spots it feels like glove leather. It looks great. But it is also thin, especially around the ankle area. The boot is light too. Looking at it and feeling it, this boot is all about the style. You will give up some comfort as a result, and my feeling is it would not last as long as well as some similar boots.

These are the most expensive shoes I have ever owned; pure sin, they look like the first class cabin kind of life; yes, they do scream money! And they are high style, but also the most comfortable dress shoe I have ever worn. I bought these in the cognac color (tec spec parma)which seems to work with all lighter shade pants and even medium blue. If you don't mind people commenting on your shoes or imagining you are a millionaire, and if you want some dressy oxfords with cap toes and a high polish for tailored clothes, these shoes are for you. They make quite a statement at special events, but I can wear them all day and into evening in comfort.

I am a fan of To Boot New York shoes because they fit my narrow foot well. These hold true to the great fit and comfort I am accustom to. The color is more of a reddish tan, so beware these are not a traditional tan. I have a similar shoe from TBNY in a cognac color and there is not much of a difference between the two. Still glad to have it and will continue to buy more TBNY!

I like the styling of this brand, this is a good simple design. Runs a little narrower than another To Boot shoe that I have in the same size, didn't expect that. In general, to boot shoes seem to run half to full size larger than normal, so get a smaller size than you are used to.

I bought these boots because they have a very slim and sleek style. I think they look amazing. I'm a big fan of the captoe and the fade-to-black staining on the toe. I'm not going to go on any more about the style because you can just look at the photos. The leather was not too stiff and it was not already sporting the "worn leather" look that some shoemakers will do for you. I prefer to wear my leather in myself. After a couple weeks, the leather around my ankle bone was rubbing against me and it was uncomfortable for medium to long walks. I tried lacing it tighter, but the rubbing was just caused by the bending of my ankle and foot as I walked. It went away after a little while, and I've had them for over a year since without trouble. Once they broke in, they were quite comfortable. The insoles could use a little more padding, but you could probably swap out the insoles if it really bothers you. I walk around New York all day and it doesn't get to me, but I'm in my 20s. The soles have good traction. I wear these around in the winter all the time (except for when the snow would actually go up around the boot. They seem to be water-proof, but I don't go off trying to soak them, so I'm not 100% certain. After a year, they look really nice. They've creased well. The leather is decently stained through, so minor scratches won't be extremely noticeable. The one negative thing is that the backsides of the eyelets scratch the leather tongue in between the laces. You can't see this when wearing the shoe, though, because it's laced shut. I'm quite happy with these shoes and will continue to wear them and resole them as time goes on.

Not a fan of the decoration in the heel area, doesn't seem necessary. Shoe is generally pretty comfortable, leather is good, not great. Overall happy with it.

Classic look, high quality shoe. Great with slim suit pants, or slim jeans. Our Italian friends have perfected the handmade shoe process. Runs 1/2 big. Wife loves them, and lots of compliments at her company Christmas party. Price a little steep, but worth it.

The Capote is the most comfortable leather sole shoe that I have ever worn. Feels as if the outsole is rubber.

If you are going to buy this item please know that the brown runs larger than the black. The black is a true 8½ and the brown is more like a 9. I know this as I ordered two pairs of both black and brown thinking it was an anomaly; and it was not. Both times the black fit as a true 8½ and the brown was larger even though it was an 8½. Weird. Also, the cushioning is not very soft in the sole, so it is not a super comfortable shoe but it is very nice in black. The brown was not as attractive and a bit dull. I did not buy the blue so not sure what that looks like in person. It is a great basic stylish tennis, but not as high quality as a Bally's sneaker. But very stylish, a tad overpriced for the shoe but still worth it. I returned the brown and kept the black.

I have been looking for boots both comfortable and stylish for quite some time, tried everything from Diesel and Bacco Bucci to Frye. TBNY is hands down the best. Butter oil shaft and sturdy gritty soles, easy to lace and put on and off. Positively happy and recommend to anyone! New Balance: I normally wear US size 9, order your TBNY half size down for right fit.

Great boot that can be used both for dress and dress casual. With rubber sole is a nice option for winter. I was looking for a boot I could wear to work on rainy/wet/snowy/salty days that would look like a real dress boot (not overly bulky) but also with a thick enough rubber sole to withstand some of the elements. Perfect boot. Fits very nicely first time. I usually wear an 11.5 or 12 but took an 11 in this. Love this boot, very comfortable out of the box.

I love these shoes. Very stylish and surprisingly comfortable. The fit is nice for an average width, I would think wider feet would not work.

In a smaller size, I'm sure it's a very sharp shoe. I gave it a moderate overall score because the proportions are all off and it doesn't look attractive or flattering in a large size (13). You don't notice the handsome buckle detail, just an elongated expanse of unadorned black leather.

These are beautiful shoes: - The leather is supple and shiny. - The sole is nice and low. They might make good dancing shoes once thoroughly broken in (stiff at first). - The style is timeless. So why did they have to make a toebox a full one size too large? I know my shoe size very well - 44 Euro, 11 US. But while the width was good (perhaps a bit narrow), these shoes had a good 3/4 inch extra in the toebox for no reason! They had me awkwardly clomping around. A shame. I would like to try ordering a size smaller, but am gun shy now.

Beautiful shoe, nice and low... but totally too long! I ordered a size 44, which never fails me elsewhere. Big fat long empty toebox though.

This was my first To Boot purchase and I really like the shoes. I have been wearing Ecco's for the comfort but wanted something a little more stylish for suits. I wear a size 10 and my feet run a little wide. I have trouble comfortably fitting well in most dress shoes due to width (Cole Haan, Allen Edmonds) but these were great right away. I love the fit and while they are not as plush as Ecco's, I can wear them all day without any problems.

Certainly a beautiful shoe, but I have two MAJOR problems with it: 1) The sole split after very few wearings at the "halfway" point where the rubber part meets leather. It split all the way through the sole. This is more than unacceptable. 2) I had to buy some pretty expensive inserts after I developed pretty severe foot pain - also unacceptable. Women would say neither of these are a deal breaker as they are used to this. I think fellas are going to agree with me that these are unacceptable. To Boots never responded when I reached out to them.

Great shoes. Bought both the black and tan. Very soft, comfortable but but one size smaller. They run a little large. The more you wear them the better they fit. Like walking barefoot.

I had 2 pairs of 2 Boot New York dress shoes for 2 years, and this is one of them, bought them in 2013. This monk strap style looks particularly stylish, but it is where the pro ends. Leathers on these shoes do not winkle consistent, I got one shoe winkles normally and the other winkles terribly, perhaps it is made with the softer part of the hide. Another problem is the bottom soles of the shoes can come easily unglued from the leather upper on the side of the shoe where your big toe bends after a couple of weeks of wearing. I had to take them to a cobbler shop for repair. My other pair of 2 Boot New York dress shoes also have the same leather grain and unglued problem. I would not recommend this shoe or the brand.

PROS: Well designed and made of good quality materials. Ergonomic fit and low-profile. Sleek, minimalist look with no gaudy logos or blingy chrome accents. Classic. Comfortable, soft leather lining on all straps. Good full-heel support at back of foot. CONS: If between sizes, order the next size down (only available in whole sizes). Runs slightly narrow for a medium/D fit; with my feet, felt as if there was extra pressure on the joints/balls of my pinky toes. Slightly flimsy/thin sole design without a lot of support at forefoot; probably not good for long wearing periods. Velcro strap is nice for custom fit but will degrade over time; not ideal for expensive shoes in this price range.
