I had the following requirements for a watch I wear for running: (1) rubber - had to be light, tough & waterproof; (2) chronograph, timer and alarm; (3) cool enough to wear every day. There are actually very few that fit this description. I originally bought a Suunto M5, but it was ridiculously complicated just to get the stopwatch running - sent it back. I settled then on this one. I have one for a week and it went dead. Got a new one (thanks). I have to say it is pretty dumb. First, it is way big and looks a bit silly. Worse, and part of its bigness is that I am constantly starting the stopwatch inadvertently when I bend my hand back. If I am pounding on something, it triggers the lap counter and beeps. Thankfully, none of the several Timex watches I have owned lasted more than 18 months, so it's not permanent.

Brands I'd also recommend: Timex Ironman

At first I thought the face was too large, but as a 50 year old runner and swimmer I absolutely love that I can see my times and splits without my reading glasses! Great watch!

The year was 1950 when the world's first inexpensive, yet utterly reliable mechanical watch movement was created and with it, a new wristwatch called the Timex. The Timex brand name became a household word during the 1960s. Having completely conquered the low-priced market, the company upgraded and diversified its product line including the first low-priced electric watches for men and women.

In the 1990s, Timex vigorously pursued its long tradition of technological innovation and market leadership. The company introduced the industry's first electroluminescent watch face in 1992, when the blue-green Indiglo® night light appeared on some of its digital and analog watches. Today, more than 75 percent of all Timex watches are equipped with the Indiglo night light®. The All-Day Indiglo® display, using a hologram-like material, provides greater contrast between digital numbers and the display background. In 1994, Timex introduced the Data Link® watch, a sophisticated wrist instrument that carries scheduling, phone numbers, and other personal information, having collaborated with Microsoft to create the necessary software to communicate the data from computer to watch. In 1998, Timex pioneered its i-Control™ turn n pull analog alarm watch and, in a joint venture with Motorola, a new wrist pager called Beepwear®.

Today, the Timex Corporation is the nation's leading watch manufacturer. With a large and varied line of watches, Timex has the style for everyone. From the locker room to the board room, there is a great Timex style time-piece for you.
