This was my first time trying Timberland. I am returning them because I wasn't really looking for a very lightweight summer boot. They are made of light-duty canvas and the toe IS shiny. Other than the sole, these are for casual dress only. I normally order a 14 in Merrell and New Balance, these felt as though I should have ordered a 14 as well.
Brands I'd also recommend: Merrell, New Balance, Dunham, Drew, Rockport
