I have always been a fan of Thorlos and have worn them for many years on and off duty. I had experience wearing the X Static combat socks when I bought a pair for my long trek mowing the lawn each week (5 mile march) a couple years ago and was amazed at the comfort and fit. They lasted a couple years and the heel, although it didn't form a hole, became matted and I had to get rid of them before I would blister up... But they had to have more than hundred miles on them. I only had the one pair because they were expensive. I more recently wear Thorlos Lambs wool hikers but when my department switched to a 12 hour shift in the summer months I noticed I would be kind of ripe and wet at the end of the shift. I had excellent experience with Thorlos over the calf socks previously, also, and saw these with the X-Static. I'm glad I bought them... They are very comfortable, antimicrobial and the foot odor is gone. My feet stay dry and now that the weather is colder, they keep my legs warmer as well. They do provide some support to my calves and Achilles tendon and this was another reason I was drawn to them as I'm recovering from an Achilles sprain and plantar fasciitis. They do seem a little tight at first but you get used to it and they are a solid pair of socks and worth the money. I thought this 3 pair deal was pretty good. No regrets here... Buy them.

I ordered these socks for my spouse - which he really likes. His job requires him to stand 8 hours a day. These socks have a cushion on the bottom - plus they are over the sock which gives support. I found that Zappos.com had the best price on these socks. They are kind of expensive - but worth the investment. Plus they last a long time.

Brands I'd also recommend: None - these really are comfortable.

These are super comfortable. We have a shoe-free house (besides keeping down the dust, just learned we track carcinogens in on our shoes!) and I'm wearing 'em like socks. Warm, comfy and invigorating. BTW: I'm a woman with size 12 feet; I tend to choose men's socks.

A little too much support - I bought these because I wanted over-the-calf socks that are comfortable. However, these were too tight around the calves for me. I don't think my legs are bigger than average... don't understand why they make them so tight.

I have been impressed in the past with Thorlos running socks, so I took a chance on these and was rewarded with the same great quality. I'm using these as boot socks, and they're plenty high enough and stay up all day. Medium-weight sock, nice cushion but not too thick. Great socks.
