In 1966, two hiking enthusiasts founded a small mountaineering retail store in the heart of San Francisco's North Beach. The company soon became known as The North Face, a retailer of high-performance climbing and backpacking equipment. (The name was selected because in the Northern Hemisphere, the north face of a mountain is generally the coldest, iciest and most formidable to climb.) In 1968, The North Face began designing and manufacturing its own brand of high-performance mountaineering apparel and equipment, and in the early 1980s, extreme skiwear was added to the product offering. By the end of the decade, The North Face became the only supplier in the United States to offer a comprehensive collection of high-performance outerwear, skiwear, sleeping bags, packs and tents.

Using all types of proprietary technology, TNF provides The North Face jackets, The North Face clothes, The North Face pants, The North Face bags and The North Face shoes with quality, durability, and above all else, functionality. Throughout the years, The North Face jacket and outerwear division has set the standard in the industry. With styles such as The North Face Denali jacket and vest, The North Face Apex Bionic jackets, and The North Face Nupste jackets, The North Face jackets proves time and time again that they are at the forefront of high-performance apparel.

Their dedication to footwear is no different. With the different categories of trail running, hiking, mountaineering, and most recently ultra running, The North Face shoes division continues to raise the bar for innovation and quality in their shoes. Using proven technology such as Gore-Tex® and Gore-Tex® XCR®, their insulated footwear can sustain use in low, sub-zero temperatures, and with the innovative Boa® technology, users can have a precise fit with the ability to adjust quickly and on the fly. All features that make The North Face shoes a leader in the technical footwear arena.

The North Face’s dedication to quality can also be seen in their gear and equipment. The North Face sleeping bags with a high fill of goose down for warmth and multiple lengths. The North Face daypacks and expedition packs such as the Recon and Jester that are rugged, durable, and can hold all you gear. The North Face tents that will withstand extreme temperatures on Everest and Mt. Rainier. If you have a desire to test the limits, The North Face equipment will help you on your adventure.

This skirt is a nice weight--corduroy is not always a realistic option for southern California, but this works well. The length is nice and flattering (I'm 5'4", wearing the M), and the gray is a nice neutral to go with just about anything. The only caveat is that the zipper, being stiffer than the fabric, causes the skirt to "buckle" horizontally across the front. It doesn't iron out, but it's not really a problem, because I wear my t-shirts, etc., untucked, so it's covered. It might also be less visible if the skirt were loose-fitting on me (it's not). But overall a nice skirt for multi-season casual wear.

I love the color albeit a little tough to match (with anything other than white or cream). I wore with brown boots but then it was difficult to find a complementary color of tights. It is also a tad short for me, but still nice, comfy, causal skirt.

This corduroy skirt is a nice weight for California -- not too heavy or thick. Style is flattering and cut just right. But this color -- "taupe green" -- is vexing. It doesn't seem to be either taupe or green, but some strange combination of the two. I thought it would function as a neutral and give me a new wardrobe color, but it goes with nothing, except maybe cream or black. I'm returning and will try one of the other colors, because the cut of the skirt would definitely make it a wardrobe staple.

I love this skirt. Last winter, I ordered two colors and wore them constantly with boots and tights. I am a school teacher, so it was perfect: stylish, comfortable, and school appropriate. I lost weight over the summer. I am reordering these skirts for this winter. Last year, I was 5'3" and weighed about 145 pounds. The size small worked. This year, I am ordering the extra small.

Love this skirt. Fits well, fabric is not too heavy or stiff and the grey is a nice medium color. It fit true to size. I typically wear a Small (or 4) and that's what I ordered. Wore it for the first time to work with sweater tights and booties. Fabulous! I'm thinking I might need more colors.
