I wanted a light pack with minimal fuss and gadgets that I could cram into a bigger bag or pack if needed. The Verto fit the bill best when I looked around. It is well made and comfortable all day provided you pack it with something flat or soft towards the back. The pockets on the side and the lid pocket are welcome, and it also has an inner pocket that the whole pack stuffs into. The waist belt is for balance only, no load, which is fine. For improvements I would suggest to make the whole bag as wide as the top portion. As of now the lower part is more narrow. Also, the compression cords that come with the bag should be longer or elastic. The front strap that keeps the lid in place should also be longer, for the instances when you overfill the pack. The drawstring closing the main pack is hard to pull to fully close, the fabric just wraps around the cord. Still, it is perfect as a day or travel pack, where you want to carry things with minimum fuss and weight.
