While looking for a good shoe among thousands this one grabbed my eye. First impressions, looking at the tread design I just knew this was the shoe for me. Reading the reviews from others sold me on it. My review of hedgehog GTX. This is the best shoe I have ever worn in my life! I have bought other expensive shoes, but nothing compares to this. Out of the box it felt broken in and a perfect fit to my foot. Its quality is very impressive. It is made strong, it does not break down like most shoes around the ankle part like most shoes. It keeps it form always and does not break down. The special rubber does give excellent traction even on wet surfaces and the gortex lining keeps my socks dry in winter walking through snow. I can not ask for more in a shoe. I am for sure buying another pair. I hope they do not discontinue this one. You can not go wrong! Best pair of shoes I have ever bought!

Great shoe - like all TNF products; well-made, good looking and functional. The sole sheds mud easily and because it's Gore-Tex I can spray them off after a muddy hike and still be able to use them the next day. The laces were a bit too long and have to be double-knotted, but that's pretty normal. All in all a great shoe for the rainy area I live in. And Zappos had it in my size, too!

I've been a Salomon fan for 15 years and only tried these for walking the dog...what could I loose. Well, I'm surprised. So many shoes try to outsmart themselves these don't. Just an old school sturdy, comfortable shoe good for kicking around. I've got niche shoes and now a good everyday shoe. They do run a 1/2 size small, but are plenty wide.

Not one to write reviews but felt I should. Zappos delivers! Great company. Now for the shoe, my second pair, took out of the box put on my feet and worked out! A tennis shoe with Gore-Tex and Vibram soles whats not to like? I'm an avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast, these shoes are excellent for many uses. Would definitely recommend and buy again and again.

This is a great shoe, first week I wore the shoes I went to Yosemite. Hiked long distances. No blisters, feet stayed dry.

Probably don't need to add this with 80+ other great reviews, but here's mine. Excellent fit (true to size) and superb lateral and arch support. While the shoe gives the impression of being 'stiff,' it is extremely comfortable. I needed a rugged shoe for the rocks overseas and this is it. Toe and heel caps appear to be very well secured. Tread is aggressive and grippy. 3 months of nearly daily use and no real signs of wear. Squirt off with a pressure washer when dirty and they dry quickly...of course it’s usually more than 100*F so that helps.

I bought my first pair of Hedgehogs in November, '07. They lasted until June, '10. I've just ordered my second pair yesterday. I have to say, this is the first time I've ever ordered the exact same shoe, twice! That's how much I liked them. They were used for everyday activities, and trail hikes. So comfortable and supportive, a real deal!

I’ve had these for less than a month, but I’ve done everything from hiking to hang gliding in them, and they are great. They’re lightweight, breathable, and extremely comfortable once broken in. They have excellent traction. The tread goes in opposite directions on the front and rear of the shoe to give good traction whether climbing or descending. Also, the pull tab on the heel makes putting them on a breeze.

2 thumbs up and 5 stars! I have the Hedgehog in 10.5 D, true to size. Awesome shoe, no break in time. I am very active family man with 4 kids and an active Boxer puppy. We are always at an off leash dog park and doing outdoor hiking and urban adventures. Wear them during my work commute, have to walk 1 mile to my bus stop and run up 4 flights of stairs to my next bus. These shoes are the best, wore them over 12 hours many times and my feet feel great. I am buying 2 more pairs just in case they discontinue the style. I highly recommend this shoe to anyone who lives an active lifestyle; you will enjoy this shoe!

Great shoe! I purchased these for our recent vacation to the Grand Canyon. The shoe preformed great. The comfort was as expected and the grip from the tread was awesome. I had no worries about slipping when on rocks or sand, climbing or going down hills. I wore them on and off for a couple weeks before the trip so they were broken in good. I had no issues walking or standing all day. They supported my feet very well. For me a little more in the width area would have been nice. Just a bit tight on my upper foot area. Overall a great shoe.

Based on the Dr. Scholls machine at Walmart. I have low arches and these are one of a few pair of shoes that I did not have to purchase any sort of insole. They are also very comfortable and feel like they give great support to my foot. I have not had the opportunity to test out the Gore-tex so I can not comment on that.

This is the second pair of North Face hiking shoes I've purchased from Zappos. These Hedgehog GTX shoes are very comfortable and have an aggresive tread. These, like my other pair of North Face, were stiff at first but loosen up and are true to size.

I wanted a running shoe but with a rugged style and this shoe fits the bill. Very comfortable. The insole is removable and the shoe accommodates my full length orthotics perfectly. I can wear these shoes all day without any foot pain or fatigue. The Gortex keeps my feet cool and dry. I wear a size 10.5 to 11 depending upon the shoe. I bought both and kept the 10.5. As always great service from Zappos.
