Good Quality - This is a good quality bag I bought for my son's school books. He liked it so well, he also takes it on hikes.

Great all-around bag - This bag is well put together and I use it for everything. There are a few too many straps, but the bag is solid, lots of pockets, and plenty of space for your stuff.

Nice Bag - It's a really nice bag, I've only used it once since I purchased it and it was just what I needed. My previous bag came from the company with the Tree as its logo and that bag was not too comfortable. This bag seems to be a lot more comfortable. It also has a lot of little pocket where you can put your IPod, cell phone...just about anything. At first I thought it was a little expensive for a back pack but after I received it, I was fine which the purchase price.

Great! This bag is great. It's a little taller than I thought, but it works out because I'm tall. I carry my laptop, a couple of books, and a binder in it and the weight doesn't bother me too much because the straps are so comfortable. I definitely recommend this one!

Best backpack for the money. The last time I got a new backpack was 1998 and my have they come a long way since then. I was still carrying my Jansport backpack from 1998 but my heavy school books tore it up. Unlike my Jansport, the material on this North Face bag feels like it will wear well because it’s thick and durable. Not only that, I have a 17 inch laptop that fits into the laptop pocket perfectly. Then it has pockets galore so if you're a lady and you don't want to carry a backpack and a purse, you won't have to because this backpack has it all.

It's great! I love the color and it will definitely hold all of my stuff. My only problem with it is how tall it is. I am 5’2” so the bag looks really big on my back and the bag itself stretches the entire length of my back.

I got this backpack because I needed something big enough to carry all my books to class (post-grad student) as well as my 15" Macbook pro. I can fit about 2 1" binders and 2 large books but I still have to go out to my car and switch out books. I still can't see myself using a roller bag, LOL. I love this backpack, it seems pretty durable, and anything bigger would overpower me anyways (I'm borderline petite, 5'4" female). Anyways, black is best, matches anything! I looked at some of the newer Jansports, but it seems this had a better quality. Straps are a bit wide for me, but very comfortable, once it's on your back you can't feel the weight of the books. I was sent the latest version (the one in the pic has a bit of orange around the headphone slot by the top pocket, but it's actually a smaller piece of gray rubber on the newer styles).
Brands I'd also recommend: Dakine, Burton, North Face...

The item looks great and is positively huge. I especially like the all-over woodland camo and the matching accent colors. However, two things would keep me from recommending North Face bags, this one in particular. First of all, the material is simply polyester, without any backing or coating. While I never had a chance to use it in the rain, etc., I have a feeling everything inside the bag would've gotten completely wet. And that leads me to my second concern. A week after normal use (my Macbook and a few notepads and pencils), the shoulder strap tore when I tried to lift it off the chair to put it on my back. Not a complete tear, but enough to shake my confidence in the brand, and not want to trust my Macbook to it. I will say this may be a fluke defect. The bag was super comfortable, and looked great. As usual, however, excellent Zappos service saved the day. After one phone call, I was issued an apology (unnecessary, but nice to hear) and was given a full refund on the spot. In conclusion: Will I buy North Face bags again? Probably not. Will I buy anything I can from Zappos? YES!

This is my first back pack and I can\'t see how I could have done any better. Great for day trips locally or out of town. Comfortable straps and back panel. More pockets than I know what to do with but I\'m new at this. Construction seems to be excellent and I expect to get many years service from this pack.

My daughter absolutely loves her new North Face bookbag. She started college this fall and says that she wished she would have had it in high school. It has many convenient pockets and is large enough to accommodate the big college books. As usual we are very satisfied with Zappos service and products.

I ordered the camouflage one for a week long summer trip to California. I was able to fit a weeks worth of clothes, etc. inside plus a beach towel. (Keep in mind summer clothes are much smaller and thinner than winter clothes, so I wouldn't be able to fit as much in the winter). But the backpack worked out perfectly for my trip. There are lots of good pockets, etc. and little straps to grab onto all over the pack. It's pretty comfortable. There are only two things about it that make me unhappy. One - I walked for about 15 minutes in pouring rain with this pack and everything inside got soaked. This doesn't make the pack very practical for backpacking trips, camping trips, or any extended period of walking outdoors in case of precipitation. Two - the seams on the shoulder straps where they attach to the pack are visible, they look strained already and I've only used this pack for a one week trip, and a couple of single days back at home. I'm worried about how long the straps on the pack will last. I suppose it was worth the money for what it is. I really like it, but it's definitely not perfect or nearly up to par with what you expect from North Face.

I've had this backpack for over four years now and it still looks as good as new, and that's saying a lot considering the way I abuse the poor thing. I go mountaineering and backpacking for about a week's time at least once every other month, and since purchase I've used it for every trip. I'm also a college student and this backpack is perfect for my laptop and books, not to mention it's pretty stylish (albeit a bit cliche). It's a bit big, so if you're smaller or will be using your backpack only for school, I'd suggest the Jester (to me, same thing but different size and name, and much cheaper!). I'm 5'10" and this backpack fits perfectly in proportion to my torso (which is also a plus when I'm in the wilderness). I only wish I had it back in HS because I had much heavier textbooks then.

I love this backpack! I have been through a few before I found this one. I like it because I can fit all my books and laptop inside which is very important to me being and engineering student. The quality is superb and it is water resistant! Great material, great size! If you want a backpack, get this, you will not be disappointed.

This is the perfect backpack for college. It is one of the roomier bags made by The North Face. I am 5'7", have a medium build, and this bag does not look overly big on me. I love the extra compartments for wallets, keys, and more. It is well made and gives great support to your back for carrying multiple heavy books. I feel comfortable knowing my laptop is safe even when I set my bag on the ground. Also, I own the Hot Shot which I love, but my books/notebooks feel cramped in that bag. With the Heckler I can fit three textbooks, three 100 page notebooks, one planner, my wallet, keys, water bottle, a handful of pencils/pens, my laptop, and still have room for a few more books. It is my favorite backpack from The North Face!
