I really like these boots and feel sad seeing some of the negative comments about them. I respect others' opinions but I don't agree with them. This boot fits really well, and I have not experienced any slippage in the heel or sagging of socks. I think that one's happiness with this boots comes down to how they dress before booting up and whether they want ultra fashion or utility. This is not a casual, fashionable, go to the mall, Uggs kind of boot. It's built for really tough weather. I have Uggs and love them but when it's rough out there I go for real boots, I always wear a pair of really nice, thick, warm, higher than the boot shaft, Smartwool PHD socks. When you get into the boot geared up like that, there's no slippage in the heel or sagging down of the socks. Smartwool PhD socks (the gold standard of winter socks) will not sag - cheaper socks will for most boots. This boot has a lot of pluses: it's insulated, waterproof, has a zip up back for easy on/off and it's got a gripper of a sole. To some it's a "clunker" boot. I don't see it that way at all. The waffle stitching on the boot is absolutely gorgeous and the boot's materials are lovely. I just think it comes down to how you dress for winter and whether you want a fashion statement or a really practical, but still attractive boot. Any really heavy duty winter boot can be called a "clunker". But I'll go for heavy duty boots every time the weather goes really nasty and I don't care if I don't look like I just walked off a fashion runway. I really like these boots and the price point is very good for what you're getting.

Fantastic - I had the same problem with the zipper rubbing on my left calf a little. And also with the zipper being a little bit difficult to move. Both of these are negligible and had I know before I bought them... I still would have bought them. Along with being very stylish (as opposed to Ugg boots which I hate hate hate), they're waterproof and have fantastic traction on ice and snow. Not that it matters because I live in San Diego... but for the trips to Mammoth and other cold/icy areas they're amazing (and functional). I seem to wear them just around the house as well, because they're warm. I have them in pink. I love the color.

Great traction and could be nice to walk in. But the zippers on my pair of boots do not stay up. Always falling down taking my socks with them. Poor design. I need to walk in the snow, so I will have to look for a new pair of boots. And I will avoid North Fact products!

These boots run a bit roomy for me even with ski socks. Maybe order a half size smaller. They are however very comfortable, stylish, appear to be durable and well made. I had no problems with the zipper.

I purchased these boots for my 13 year old daughter. She loves them! They are very stylish and she loves their "look". However, while she says they are very comfortable when she puts them on, the weather has been so mild thus far this winter that she has not worn them for an extended period of time.

Add This Brand to My Favorites
In 1966, two hiking enthusiasts founded a small mountaineering retail store in the heart of San Francisco's North Beach. The company soon became known as The North Face, a retailer of high-performance climbing and backpacking equipment. (The name was selected because in the Northern Hemisphere, the north face of a mountain is generally the coldest, iciest and most formidable to climb.) In 1968, The North Face began designing and manufacturing its own brand of high-performance mountaineering apparel and equipment, and in the early 1980s, extreme skiwear was added to the product offering. By the end of the decade, The North Face became the only supplier in the United States to offer a comprehensive collection of high-performance outerwear, skiwear, sleeping bags, packs and tents.

Using all types of proprietary technology, TNF provides The North Face jackets, The North Face clothes, The North Face pants, The North Face bags and The North Face shoes with quality, durability, and above all else, functionality. Throughout the years, The North Face jacket and outerwear division has set the standard in the industry. With styles such as The North Face Denali jacket and vest, The North Face Apex Bionic jackets, and The North Face Nupste jackets, The North Face jackets proves time and time again that they are at the forefront of high-performance apparel.

Their dedication to footwear is no different. With the different categories of trail running, hiking, mountaineering, and most recently ultra running, The North Face shoes division continues to raise the bar for innovation and quality in their shoes. Using proven technology such as Gore-Tex® and Gore-Tex® XCR®, their insulated footwear can sustain use in low, sub-zero temperatures, and with the innovative Boa® technology, users can have a precise fit with the ability to adjust quickly and on the fly. All features that make The North Face shoes a leader in the technical footwear arena.

The North Face’s dedication to quality can also be seen in their gear and equipment. The North Face sleeping bags with a high fill of goose down for warmth and multiple lengths. The North Face daypacks and expedition packs such as the Recon and Jester that are rugged, durable, and can hold all you gear. The North Face tents that will withstand extreme temperatures on Everest and Mt. Rainier. If you have a desire to test the limits, The North Face equipment will help you on your adventure.

Theses are great boots. Easy to get on and off. They are warm and have plenty of room for warm socks on those 20 below days. The soles have great traction. They are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. This is my second pair of north face boots from Zappos and I love both of them.

I also noticed the zipper poking me in the heel when I push my foot into these boots, but I believe that is caused by the wrong size. I usually take a 9 - 9 1/2, so I ordered a size 10. They fit snug and was a little hard to get into. I decided to try the size 11s and I'm keeping that pair, returning the 10s. Very comfortable, room for extra socks and an arch support-insole, and I am able to put them on/take them off easily. I'm not surprised these are sold out. Would recommend ordering up a half or full size especially if you wear extra socks.

So far, so good. I needed a pair of boots that would be warm for the Chicago winter and would be easy to get on and off as I hurry the kids out the door and then rush to get my boots off before everyone has tracked snow into the house. These boots are really warm; they were true to size and are really comfortable. My only complaint would be that my socks seem to slide down in them but at least my toes aren't frozen! They aren't as fashionable as I would like (more rugged, like I am going on a hike) but that wasn't a priority anyway.

These winter boots are sturdy and warm, but best of all, really cute! I cannot really rate performance in snow and ice yet, but I am looking forward to testing them this winter. I am tired of doing the "Minnesota shuffle" when navigating snow/ice covered sidewalks and streets, and am confident the design of these soles will allow me to get safely around even during the worst weather.

Awesome boots! I got these to wear in wet and cold weather. They fit the bill perfectly. The inside of the boot is nicely padded and very comfy. I'm on the edge of a medium width and these have lots of toe room, which is great since I want to wear thicker socks with them, so I'm keeping the 6.5, my usual size.

I had my old snow boots for years and they were worn out. We’ve had more snow than usual this year. I read reviews for this boot on Zappos and other sites and all recommended it. I decided to go with Zappos because I knew if it didn’t fit I could send it back with free return shipping. I was supposed to have regular shipping, but Zappos upgraded it to overnight at no extra cost, which was nice since another snow storm is on its way for this weekend. I ordered my regular size 8.5 and it fit perfectly. The only slight issue is they are a little snug in the shaft if I try to stuff my jeans into the boot, but I have large calves.
