The sphere heel does feel different. I run on trails, so my feet & legs are always a little "en guard" for a tweak on a root or rut. At first, when the sphere heel hits, I'd be ready to prepare for a bit of a rolling feeling (to the side). But soon I grew faith that the only rolling was right into a solid stride. Everyone's feet and stride is different, so I typically don't recommend a shoe. But I will say this is worth a try in store if you'd like to try running in something that feels different. Caveat: I never tried the barefoot shoe thing, so perhaps the sphere heel is similar to minimal soles.
I'd also recommend: I like Teva because of their sandals & fuse-ion water sneaker...but completely different shoe types

Pretty cool lightweight shoe. I love the whole minimal concept but most brands don't offer enough support for me. This shoe has that smooth, natural feel but offers nice support. I usually run trails and felt solid when the terrain was less than smooth. Also, felt very efficient on uphill/downhill grades.
