I was looking for a light waterproof walking/hiking shoe. These were well-made, but narrow in the width. My feet usually don't have width issues, but when I wore these shoes I was always conscious of the tightness.Too bad, I wanted these to work. I ordered a half-size bigger, too, and that seemed to work as far as size is concerned.

I normally buy shoes at Zappos, because for me, shoe shopping in stores is usually an endless, futile endeavor. Additionally, Zappos has exceptional and speedy service and I find it actually saves me time. Recently though, I came across this shoe in a store and had to try it. Overall I'm impressed with the shoe, with some minor issues. I do have a somewhat narrow low volume, high arch foot. If you're like me you know there is virtually nothing out there, especially in most stores that will fit. This is one of the few shoes I've tried lately that gives a somewhat secure fit with the exception of the heel, which still feels a bit loose even with hiking socks. I wouldn't say that this shoe fits more like a narrow width but I'm able to cinch it more snugly than most. If you normally wear a wide width then I think these might be a little snug. There are a couple of issues I have with the shoe. First, I simply need a bit more cushioning. I know hiking shoes are supposed to be firm and stable. I'm in my mid forties and I find I need more cushioning in a shoe to make up for the loss of natural cushioning in my feet. There are a few shoes out there with more but none of them fit me securely enough. The second minor issue is that it feels like the arch support feels too firm toward the outside part of the footbed. This feels like it does help in stability, preventing an outward roll of the foot on uneven ground. Maybe I just need to get used to it, I've just never felt this as pronounced in other shoes. It just feels like it is making my foot roll inward slightly. Overall the arch support is good and better than most, though I could use just slightly more in the instep. I've worn the shoe for a few walks on hard pack and gravelly, rocky ground and the stability feels good. This will not be my first choice though, for walking on concrete or asphalt. If Teva could also figure out a way to provide a little more cushioning heel to toe, and make the heel more secure I would definitely buy this shoe again and again. The bottom line: If you have a medium to slightly narrow width, high arched foot then give this shoe a try. It's probably not for everyone but no one shoe is. As for the waterproofing I can't say yet as we've had virtually no rain lately where I am. The shoe is a little warm as are all waterproof shoes and I doubt I'll be wearing the shoes at above 80 degrees. I think this will be a good cool/cold wet weather shoe. Seems to be a very durable shoe that should last at least a season. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I was disappointed to send this shoe back as it feels very comfortable and gives adequate arch support (which is a problem for me). Unfortunately the half-size up order was still just a little snug for my toes and the full size up is not made (12 1/2).

I have been wearing Teva shoes for years and have to admit that I am disappointed with these shoes. The fit is strange and feels like a "block" on my foot. Also, these shoes are really narrow. The foot bed is soft and cushy but negated by the heavy and awkward feel of the shoe. I loved the look but could not get comfortable with them on my foot.

Just ordered my second pair of these and will hold onto them until the first ones wear out. So impressed with these...warm enough for winter, but your feet don't get sweaty in the summer. Great arch support. Wore these all over Ireland for urban and Burren hikes and they were all I needed.

I bought these shoes for my husband. He has a lot of problems finding shoes that don't eventually give him pain in his ankles. Doctors say he has arthritis but he's always felt it was poor-fitting shoes. I've always had great luck with Tevas, so ordered these for him to try. These Tevas felt good as soon as he put them on and, so far, he's been able to wear them standing all day and hiking with no pain at all. The bonus is that they appear to be waterproof. His feet stayed dry during a 4 hour hike in the rain. He's concerned that they may be a bit hot for summer wear, but that remains to be seen.
