No breaking in!I just received these shoes and they are great! I only just discovered Birkenstocks recently and really wanted a clog or shoe. I just got these shoes delivered and they are a perfect fit. I read some other reviews that said to go up a size, which I did. They are perfect. I also chose narrow since I am a woman with regular width size 12 feet. These shoes do look big, but my feet are big, so I am used to big looking shoes. These are well worth the money. I am sure they will last for many years. They are so comfortable I don't want to take them off.

Great shoe for someone who stands a lot - I loved the shoes. I just started culinary school and I'm on my feet a lot and my feet or legs don't hurt at all when I wear these shoes. I would recommend them to anyone.

Favorite shoe of all time- These are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. This is my second pair. I have a pair in each color as well as many other Birkenstock shoes and sandals. I like the Footprint shoes also.

Had to have them!I just loved the rhinestones on this shoe, so when it arrived I was a little disappointed that the shoe wasn't as comfortable right away as my other Birkenstocks. I originally ordered a size up because of the reviews, then ordered another pair in my "regular" size, a wide 36. I did in fact need the 37. I have a w-i-d-e foot with a high arch and instep. At first the cross strap that had no buckle felt a little tight, then it grew looser with wear. I did have to have two holes added to the strap at a local shoe repair. Overall now I'm really glad that I have the shoe, and it's grown more comfortable with wear. The silver straps go with everything, and, again -- I love the rhinestones!

Yet another great pair of birks - Though the sizing charts say to order the next euro size up, I took a chance (since they were out of that size) and ordered my regular birkenstock size - a 43 (i'm between a 9 1/2 and 10, wide). To my surprise, the 43s fit perfectly, in both length and width. These are built like a birkenstock - solid, no nonsense, no frills. And they arrived the very next day!

shorter than expected -I ignored Zappos' advice to order 1 size up at my peril. I consequently used a razor to shave off the toe end. I sacrificed aesthetics for sake of the anatomical footbed which a foot like mine requires. The Alton is recommended.

Overall:

I found them true to size with all my other Birks. They required no breaking in and I wore them for a 12 hour day the first time out in them. I can wear them with anything except a dress, and they are well worth the investment.

Marianne with Narrow Feet -In the last few years I have had a real problem finding attractive and comfortable shoes that are narrow enough to fit my feet. I bought the Tatami Morgan in silver and they are a wonderful dressy summer shoe! My feet do not slip because I can adjust the straps and the arch support helps alleviate the pain that I have from plantar fasciitis. I have happy feet when I'm wearing these shoes....and for once I feel like I haven't had to sacrifice comfort for style!

Chef's point of view - I'm an Executive Chef in NYC and have always worn Birkies. The Alton is a new shoe for me and it's a winner as far as I'm concerned. It's definitely a step up from the Professional in looks and comfort.

Wore for my WEDDING!I got the silver metallic with the rhinestone buckles to wear with my ivory dress knowing I'd be on my feet and heels were not appropriate! I was very pleased and never got tired. I had the straps too tight and got a small blister, but it was a quick fix and now I wear them several times a week. I think I need the black too!

Comfortable shoe!These sandals are well worth the money. They are classicaly stylish and unbelievably comfortable. The straps are easy to adjust and the strap die doesn't bleed onto your skin. I've worn them with jeans and skirts and recieved compliments both times!

Le chic Birkenstock - This is the Birkenstock with a female touch! It looks so beautiful that I didn't want to take them off. But at the end of the first day the top of my little toe was hurting. This shows they still need to be broken in before use. After that they are awesome.

Birkenstock Alton - I decided to go one size up for the Alton. I am an 8M (38N in a Birkenstock sandal), and have a relatively high instep. The size 39N fits as I imagine a Birkenstock should fit -- plenty of toe room but not loose fitting. The size 38N would have crowded my toes. A great looking casual clog. Exceptional comfort and quality.

Perfect for extra wide feet - I have wide feet and am always looking for comfortable shoes. The Berk Alton is great. I like the removeable cork liners as they can be replaced when they wear out. The shoe is so well built it looks like it will last for years. And, clogs are fashionable all year round. The only reason that I gave the look 4 stars is that I wish the Alton came in more colors. I would love to own this shoe in a cherry red, green, navy, or burgundy.

Mixed review of a favorite brand - I have been looking for these particular shoes for at least a year. I am more than willing to go through the discomfort of breaking in Birks until they fit. These shoes are extremely tough to break in though. I have subjected them to several shifts which require me to be on my feet and yet they still have the feel of new shoes. I am slightly disappointed the break in has taken so long. Hopefully they will pay for them selves in comfort and longevity.

These shoes are very comfortable, as expected from Birks, but I wear a size 10 (42 narrow) and they looked absolutely enormous on me, very wide, like clown shoes. Unfortunately, I'm returning them. I'd guess they would look good on guys or possibly in a smaller size. Otherwise, they are very comfortable and very well made. EXCELLENT service from Zappo's - I received them only two days after I ordered them, and returning them is very easy.

Overall very comfortable shoe. These are especially good for anyone with a wide foot. I have wide feet and actually found these to feel a bit TOO wide for me. I've noticed alot of people saying they felt true to size or smaller than marked. I found them to feel quite a bit larger than expected. I would reccomend ordering 1/2 size smaller than usual. I ended up sending mine back because of the size.

Wow! Birks that look GREAT!!!I never thought I would be caught dead in a pair of Birkenstocks!! These shoes look great, feel great and I am going to order another pair, maybe two...
