I kept my son out of shoes until he learned to walk, so this is the perfect pair for his transition into shoes. They give his feet enough protection and support but are very flexible. He's had no trouble transitioning. The only downfall is that the straps have only 2 small pieces of velcro, so he can easily remove his shoes. Overall, though, I'm very happy with this shoe.

These are good, quality shoes. Do not wear them with ankle socks as the back is high and will irritate your child's heel. The Velcro does an adequate job of holding the strap in place if pulled tight and carefully placed, but is very easy for our child to pull off, and thus remove the whole shoe. I would not recommend these shoes for a child with a chubby foot, as it may be hard to place the Velcro.

Bought these for my 16 month old daughter after she outgrew her last pair of Stride Rite SRT style shoes. I love the simple technology behind these shoes. They are so flexible and are really smooth and nice on the inside. Perfect for new walkers who ideally need to feel their feet on the walking surface as much as possible. Very grippy, too. I will continue to buy this brand as long as she fits into them! Also, the velcro has not been a problem at all for us. The easy on/off of it has been a bonus for me overall because they are so quick. She may take them off occasionally, but even that is empowering for her in it's own way. Big girl!
