Comfortable shoe that is easy to put on and take off. Sturdy sole that doesn't slip or slide. Wide width available and actually wide enough for hard to fit feet. We have both the lace-up and velcro closure styles. Great shoe for the price.

I really like these shoes and they are true to size. Rugged enough for an 8 year old boy, but not too overly bulky and heavy. They go great with his school uniform and offer much support in the heel area, which is why I specially bought these shoes, my son previously cracked his heel and the podiatrist recommended a solid, steady shoe that would help keep his foot in place (especially in the heel area). Some shoes are too soft, these aren't. Also, no need to worry about shoes coming untied.

My son loves these shoes! He put them on and didn't want to take them off. He says they're more comfortable than slippers. Re: the velcro, I know, at 8 years old, kids should be tying their shoes, but honestly I don't have time to wait for him to do it, so velcro is just wonderful. So they look a little like old man orthopedic shoes, but as long as my son doesn't mind, I don't either.

Comfortable shoe that fits well. The hook and loop closure seem to work better for my son's narrow heels, but there is a shoelace version of this style. Even with daily use on the asphalt playground, he outgrows them before they wear out. This all white shoe meets our school's uniform code perfectly, so we've bought the "Austin" by Stride Rite in every size he's needed for the last 5 years, and have always been pleased with fit and performance. Zappos service is the best, and they always have the right size on hand.

Brands I'd also recommend: Keen and Nike also fit kids comfortably.

These shoes are great for school! I purchased them for my son to wear with his school uniform and he loves them. They are comfortable, run true to size, and look like a dress shoe. My older son wore this style for a number of years as well, and was sad when he grew out of them! I would recommend these.

My grandson had to have this style of shoe for school. We could not find them locally, so we ordered from Zappos. The Austin shoe looks good, is easy to put on with the velcro closure, and most of all, my grandson says they feel good on his feet. We also like the idea that you can get this shoe in different widths. We have purchased this brand in the past and this particular shoe is designed to take a lot of kid wear and tear. Our thanks to Zappos for the quick shipment. The shoes arrived in time for the first day of school!

Brands I'd also recommend: Stride Rite is the best, but New Balance shoes are great quality too!

When I tried to order this shoe it was out of stock. Zappos wasn't sure if it would be back in stock as it is a back to school item. I received an email a couple of days later that it was available. I received the item before school and it was what I ordered. I probably paid for this shoe through Zappos, but very convenient and no shipping charges.

Our son has wider feet and higher arches. They are "normal" looking feet to me, but for whatever reason we can hardly ever find shoes that fit comfortably. These worked out great! Roomy, comfortable, and velcro!

Got these for my 3 year old. He wears them for church shoes. We are very pleased with the shoes. They look great. They open wide enough that that he can put them on himself. Zappos gives excellent service. I come back to Zappos again & again, and have always been satisfied.
