Great looking shoes, the fit is perfect and there is barely any break in period. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. Just a few things to nit pick. The stitching around the toe is a little fuzzy and where the leather meets the sole, there are a few imperfections. Not sure if this is a flaw with my specific pair of shoes or a flaw in the design. Really you'd only notice if you were inspecting the from 6 inches away. Overall a great shoe for the price.

These shoes smell horrible and the leather appears to be of very low quality.

I bought these shoes because I needed something for a semi-formal event but didn't want to break the bank on dedicated dress shoes. Firstly, I was expecting these to have that familiar stiff, hard, uncomfortable feeling that every dress shoe has, but these are actually really comfortable. It's difficult to tell by just looking at the insole, because it doesn't look as though it's heavily padded (and in all honesty they aren't), but these shoes are still very supportive - I've gone through an entire day in these without any discomfort at all. The Evanders are also very versatile, you can dress them up or down and they'll work with pretty much anything. I like how the leather isn't super-glossy, but has just enough sheen to them to give the pair a certain upscale appeal. They also fit true-to-size, I wear a 13 and they fit perfectly. There's just enough room so your feet have space, but you're not slipping and sliding around in them. Another thing I noticed after my first day of wearing them is that the break-in period is practically nonexistent. I'm used to wearing combat boots, and for the first few weeks those feel like you have cinder blocks attached to your feet. In these I could move around freely with little to no resistance the moment I put them on. With regard to the previous reviewers stating that these shoes smell bad...I'm not sure what they're talking about. My pair smell fine, just the standard 'new shoe' smell. An excellent shoe - this is my first pair of Steve Maddens, and they won't be my last.

These boots are terrible. If you like comfort and quality, don't waste your time ordering. Leather is cheap, fit is wide and runs 1/2 size bigger. Not even sure if I'll waste my time exchanging.

I love this shoe. It fits fairly true-to-size (slightly roomy). Also, the Zappos customer service team is phenomenal. Customer for life!

No issue with smell as others have experienced. Super style and comfy boot with good traction for winter. I got both brown and black. After 30 days of use practically everyday one of the seams on the wing tip started to separate. Repaired by local cobbler. I get the impression that Steve Madden are style shoes that are cheaply made, but seems acceptable for the price.

I bought a pair of these last August and I just wanted to do a follow up. When I first got them, I was impressed. Very little break in time, fit was perfect, and they look fantastic. The only flaw was some slight fraying on one shoe around one of the brogueing holes, almost too minor to see. After wearing these for about a month and a half, I put them away for the winter. Fast forward to last weekend when I took these on vacation. In the span of about 4 hours, half of which was spent sitting still on a plane flight, that minor fraying that I had mentioned earlier had turned into a 2 inch tear, ripping the brogueing in apart where the shoe creases when you bend your toe. The brogueing holes were coming apart like a zipper. To the point, I have never seen a shoe fail so catastrophically before. I would have a hard time trusting the Steve Madden brand again given this experience.
