About Spy Optic
SPY® came into being in 1994 as the brainchild of a group of over-achieving athletes and design freaks seeking new perspective through the lens of technical eyewear. This unique group was as motivated toward creativity and freedom as they were with pushing design conventions and redefining technology, and their efforts were eagerly embraced by the burgeoning world of action, motor and multisports.
SPY’s existence from Day 1 involved a constant evolution of the relationship between material, function and design, and to this day the brand's DNA underscores an obsession with progressing the quality of experience, of taking it all in, of having fun while doing things that a lot of people think are downright crazy. Within this craziness lies the genius of the SPY brand, its athletes and designers.
SPY continues to place itself at the intersection of retro-futuristic design and optical innovation, while at the same time fueling its identity through the iconic minds, bodies and vision of the world's most creative and inspiring athletes, as well as its athletically-inspired creatives.

In 1994, SPY began R&D on a lens program using state-of-the art aerospace tech common in fighter pilot and astronaut lens design. It took five years and countless trials, but success finally came in 1999 with production of the first Accurate Radius Curvature (ARC) line: crystal clear vision at all angles of vision delivered in a shatterproof, scratch-proof lens. Try to break it. Try to scratch it. You can't.

Eyewear fog-up and misting was a plague for outdoor sports through the '90s. Athletes wearing goggles, protective eyewear or sunglasses had to contend with condensation obscuring their vision as their bodies heated up in the cold air or fog... not a good thing approaching 100 mph or above 30 feet in the air. In 1995, the SPY "Scoop" technology was perfected, earning it a U.S. patent and the appreciation of athletes worldwide. So, what's the scoop on The Scoop? A special vent system is incorporated into the Scoop frame, which produces an air-churning Venturi effect between the eye and lens surface, moving condensation out and away before it can settle.

Polarized eyewear has long been standard equipment for athletes outdoors to minimize blinding glare from light bouncing off surfaces like water, snow and pavement. In 1996, SPY advanced its ARC technology to include Trident™ Polarization, a special filter injected between two layers of ARC material. The result: a lightweight, shatterproof lens that cuts glare. Glaringly sick, we think.

Coolio L.A.M.F. Glasses are larger than they seem in the photo. Not for people with tiny faces. Does the job with blocking out the sun rays. Looks good too, but needs some adjustment. My Right eye lashes touches the lens.
I bought these for my boyfriend's birthday because he had the old school ones from '06 and he absolutely loves the new version! He loves the way the wrap around his face and the way they look is super hot! He also loves to fish and he says they a perfect! There is no glare from the water and he is able to see the bait under water! My boyfriend and I would recommend these to anyone!
Typical great customer service and easy ordering from Zappos. The shades are awesome. Look great. Feel comfortable. And they were shipped in a jiffy in time for some sunny weather. They will fog up a little if you wear them in cool weather and your face gets warm. Sliding them down the bridge of your nose takes care if the issue. Once we're fully into summer, I don't expect this to be much of a problem.
I absolutely love these glasses. I have a round face so sometimes big glasses don't look right but these are perfect. The color is great and the construction is up to par with what I have come to expect from Spy. I have about 7 pairs of Spy glasses. I even bought a pair for my sister for her birthday. These are my new favorites!
Cool factor is high. You can tell that from the pics. What you can't really tell: they are very lightweight, but seem durable. The lenses are not purple. They are much more blue. However when you look through them, the tint seems like the regular gray. It's not a really dark tint, but it does the job. Get these if you like that Wayfarer shape and style, but a little more boxy and without the tilt of the lenses.
Bought these as a Christmas gift for my son. He's only had them a couple weeks, but so far he says they hold on his head better than any other glasses he has ever worn. He likes the style and color and is very happy with them.
I am overall very pleased with these sunglasses. Great fitment and great style. Only thing I wish was different was the lenses were a little darker. Great glasses!
Great sunglasses. However, the ends of it that go over your ears could be better. Had to return my pair due to the ends (the block-like tip) irritating my ear. If the end-tips weren't so long, I wouldn't have had any issues.
Very well engineered, great look and feel. The lenses are not angled which is also a plus...I highly recommend!
Not only do these frames not fit they're produced very cheap. I was blown away on fast mine fell apart.
Unfortunately the lens don't seem to have the quality I was looking for. Should have gone with another brand.
Beware, these frames are very heavy! My nose was bruised after a day of wearing these.

Got these for my boyfriends birthday and he loved them! I was unsure about the matte black but they look bad booty. Definitely recommend if your looking for something different.
I love these shades! I really wanted the green/blue/spectra lens and the only way to get them is with the matte clear. I have a pair of Coopers so I was also curious about the way the Logans would fit. I couldn't be happier. The bronze lens tint is an instant mood enhancer. The matte clear frames are killer. I get compliments on them all the time. They fit better than the Coopers and feel better with a hat on. Spy makes amazing sunglasses. Couldn't be happier.
Beware, these glasses are huge! My daughter likes large glasses, but they were even too big for her.
I've always been an Oakley/ RayBan, "brand-name" fan - on the assumption that they are the best. Received a pair of these as a gift recently, and have to say that I'm very pleased with them. They are, in my opinion, as good, as any of the well known brand named sun glasses I've previously owned (and much better than many I've owned!). Lens clarity is wonderful, and the styling is well considered, comfortable and attractive. Wind, and glare peeking in around the rims of the frames, are kept to a minimum due to the frame styling. Love these. Will definitely stick to this brand, if they keep up their product excellence.
I would highly recommend the Spy Dirk Polarized sunglasses to anyone! Love the look, sits on the face nice and the polarized lenses are amazing. Makes a HUGE difference in reducing glare. Spy glasses quality are just not the same now that they're made in China instead of Italy. I have a ten year old pair of Italian made Spy specs that are still going strong minus a few lens scratches. These new ones, I'll be impressed if they last longer than 2 years. That said, the OTF glasses are a great style, fit snugly to your head, the grips at the temple tips are functional, just not as grippy as I would like them to be. Hope they prove me wrong and last a long time.
These sunglasses are by far the best style and comfort for me, I have worn other name brands and these fit just right. Make the purches you won't be disapointed, well worth the cash. Thanks zappos for the great customer service, and fast shipping.
