Shoe was very stiff leather. Not a shoe for a wider foot, even though I have a pair of size 37 Spring Steps in suede leather that fit very well. I was disappointed.

This shoe was short. My toes seems to hang off the front. Felt wide. Didn't seem like a lot of support.

I usually have loved Spring Steps, but the leather was rather tough. There also was very little heel adjustment possible as well (why do they do velcro if they just give you a 1/4" space?), and all the straps just seemed to collide with each other.

My opinion is based on how it felt and looked when I took them out of the box. I haven't yet worn them as we now have an early winter in the East coast. They felt very comfortable. However, I am NOT sure how well they will hold over time and if I should get caught in the rain with them. The leather and the stitching seem a little delicate. I am thinking I better make sure I don't get caught in any water because I might end up shoeless. We will see then... I'll have to come back to this one when the time comes.
Brands I'd also recommend: Clarks, Uggs, Softstep
