I am over 50 years old and stand on cement 10 hours a day. Sometimes my feet would hurt so bad it was hard to walk to my car at the end of the day. These shoes have helped tremendously. When I walk they actually make my feet feel better. You do have to get them broke in, which only takes about a week. I do plan on buying another pair so I can alternate.

This is my second pair of Spira's, but I like this one less than my first. This shoe has such a stiff heel pad that I don't think you ever get to feel the rebound from the spring. Yes, you will occasionally feel the front springs underneath the foot pad. My first pair only had the back spring and had a softer ride.

Love the spring-y feel to the step. Fit and support both very good; however, the inner portion of the straps and toe box are lined with a suede-like finish that causes socks to "stick" and bunch up; and requires 'way too much effort to put on smoothly.

These are the most amazing shoes I have ever owned. They fit to size, and the springs really do make the diffence and you cannot tell they have springs in them by their look. I will not buy any other type tennis shoe after wearing these. Once home after work I come out of high heels and am on my feet for hours going up and down 2 separate staircases. These shoes have made a world of difference in the way my feet and legs feel. They have to be worn to be appreciated.\r\n\r\n

Love the shoes, very comfortable. Great idea with no shipping charges either way in case I needed to return. Overnight shipping means they ship, doesn't mean you get them the next day. But I did get them in about 5 days. Would do business with this company again. Very satisfied.

Love these shoes! Was having problems with my toes and all over tired feet. These make my feet feel wonderful, like I could do a slam dunk. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration, but they are truly comfortable. I am on my feet for long periods of time and these shoes kept my feet stress-free. I've told all my friends about them. Wave technology, every shoe should have this!

These are absolutely the best. Once you've tried a pair you'll never go back to your previous pair. They are comfort personified from the moment you put them on.

Great shoe, same problem as previous reviews; the lace holding tab broke the first time I put the shoes on. Other that that, great shoe.

These shoes are amazing. Super comfortable. They keep my back and legs from getting sore. They are great for walking long distances. My only complaint is that where the shoe flexes at the ball of the foot, the fabric immediately tore open and started to fray. It\'s getting worse each time I wear them. These shoes are way too expensive for the seams to rip out.

I had this shoes for about 2 weeks. Overall, I do not like them. I normally buy Spira Retro, but size 11 is hard to find. These feel lighter than my other shoes, but they definitely do not have as much cushion as I expected. I run on gravel streets and after a couple of miles I really feel the street even after I added insoles. They would probably be great on a track or other softer surface. For the price, they get two thumbs down.

First time I've been able to run without pain. I can tell exactly where the spring is. I weigh 270 and I've always had wide and long feet, so my shoes are expensive and hard to find. The shocks do exactly what they're advertised to do: they return the energy back to you and generally make running a breeze. I went to a nice store called Foot Solutions, where they measured me, and the shoe is a nice fit. It's nowhere near tight, but it's less room than I'm used to. I've never owned a specialty shoe before, so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I can tell that most of the reviewers here never ran in them. I would daresay that you will receive less shock running in these babies than walking!

It was a horrible pair of shoes. I bought it thinking of the spring wave technology and that I would get plenty of cushioning for standing long hours at work. But so far all I got is ankle and knee pain and hip problems. I'm getting ready to return these shoes back to Zappos and see if I can get some other type of shoes that has a lot of cushioning. The best part of this shoe is that I bought it from Zappos and because of their return policy, I would never shop at any other place for my shoes. They are the best when it comes to returns. Zappos are a little expensive, but worth it because I don't have to go through any headaches. I feel confident shopping with them and have had no problems.

Feels like you are walking on air. I have very bad heel spurs and I can walk in these shoes with virtually no pain.\r\nThe shoes fit very nicely aided by the velco strap in the back. The only drawback is if you are not careful the velco can snag your socks / hose.\r\n

Just returned from a vacation in Paris. Walked from one end to the other every day. I can honestly say that I never would have walked all over had it not been for these shoes. I have flat feet and my feet tire easily after 1/2 hour walk on sidewalks. Not with these shoes! I can't say enough about them; they are a revolution in walking shoes. They perform as advertised and better. They are goofy looking, but who cares, these are walking shoes not fashion shoes. Order wider as they are narrow. If you are going on a vacation that requires a lot of walking and you have bad feet you need these shoes, trust me!

Poor quality - I bought this hiking boots believing the hype in advertising. After three months of publicly maintained trail use, the sole on the left boot cracked and separated at the forefoot spring. I went straight to Spira in an effort to get a replacement set of boots, but my complaint was treated with unprofessional skepticism. This is the only pair of shoes I have ever returned. For the cost ($170.00) I feel cheated.

The shoes looked great, however the workmanship was somewhat disappointing. A seam on the front portion of the shoe split after a few easy wears.

These are great shoes! On previous runs, my knees would hurt during and afterward, but I have been running with these for almost two months and have not felt any pain. I feel more energized after runs, instead of feeling sore. I am now a Spira convert. Other reviews talked about feeling the springs in the shoes. I have not had any problems. For the first half mile or so on my first run I could feel a slight ridge under the ball of my left foot, but it went away after that.Great product and Zappos shipped next day and delivered a day later. I could not be happier!

I have ordered shoes from Zappos many times. The service has been more than outstanding. The last order I placed (not the currently pending one) arrived the very next day. Wonderful service considering that Zappos does not charge for shipping. I have never had to return an item to Zappos, but feel extremely confident that the process would be just as painless as receiving an order. In addition, their prices are comparable to other mail order services that charge high processing and delivery fees and also charge for return shipping. I always check with Zappos for any shoes I am interested in buying and heartily recommend them to all!

Disappointing to say the least. I considered returning them immediately as they didn\'t have the expected bounce or "springy-ness" I expected. I decided to try them afterall and I have to say I am not at all happy with these shoes. They are no match for the Nike Shox I so desperately wish to find again. They are heavy and not at all "bouncy." I really don\'t feel the benefit of the technology at all. To make matters worse. The inside of the shoe comes to an uncomfortable stop right at the interior of my ankle where it saws at my ankle bone. So, I\'ve thrown away $175.00 and am not at all pleased with these shoes as an athletic option. I do not recommend them. :(

I have been running in my new Spira Genesis II for about five weeks now. At first I was concerned because they look a little klunky and felt different. The experience of running in them has alieved all my concerns. I am older and only run 3 miles a day but, I no longer have any knee or back pain for the first time in 15 years. I really look forward to running again.

The Spira Volare Retro: I mostly wear the Spira at the gym. It's the most comfortable workout shoe I've ever worn. My back really protests when I stand for a sustained period on a concrete floor, but if I'm wearing the Spiras, this problem is solved. I haven't found them to be as miraculous as others, but I am very happy with them.

Excellent practice running shoe. Light, strong, and sturdy. My son uses this shoe for cross country practices six days a week. They are feet and knee friendly; the shoe takes the pounding, not your joints.

Love the shoes except they do not last long. They are comfortable and perform well, but the soles only last 3 months. For an expensive pair of shoes, they need to have better soles.

About Spira

Spira Spira is a young company that is gaining national attention with its remarkable athletic running and walking shoes. Spira is premised upon a proprietary unique shoe technology called WaveSpring™. Energy that is otherwise lost to the ground is recycled to the wearer, providing a remarkable combination of cushioning and energy return. Unlike traditional shoe midsoles made primarily of foams, rubber compounds, or polymers, WaveSpring™ technology stores and disburses energy with every step.

Spira makes it easier to stand, walk, run and compete without the stress and fatigue associated with traditional shoe midsole materials. Spira heel and forefoot spring configurations are engineered for specific activities to meet individual needs. Sport Biomechanics, Inc. tested the WaveSpring™ technology and found it had the highest return of energy of any shoe technology they have ever tested — 87-96%. Traditional midsole materials work through compression and often breakdown quickly. The WaveSpring™ is mechanical. The spring will outlast the shoe. The wearer will have a "new shoe" feel from the first day it is worn to the last!

Spira believes the WaveSpring™ technology will revolutionize the footwear industry as well as the purpose and function of footwear. As soon as you step into a pair of Spira shoes you will understand why.
