I started buying and wearing smartwool socks for running and skiing. Then I realized if they are that much better for specific activities, then they're probably better for regular day to day wear. And they are. I don't know why I waited so long to convert my entire sock drawer to smartwool.

I run ultra marathons and just finished a half marathon trail where the majority of it was in snow and large mud puddles. These socks saved my feet! My feet were wet and in the cold for over 3 hours during this extreme mountain race. It's amazing that your feet will recover the warmth after getting soaked. I recommend wearing them if you anticipate getting wet feet. Your feet will love these socks. I too am replacing all of my other socks with these.
Brands I'd also recommend: addidas kanadia 4's for heavy trail conditions
