I bought this for my husband for Christmas because we like to hike during winter and camp in the late fall. (Last year I bought him the mid weight pants that go with this.) I've been wearing Smartwool base layers for a few years now and love how warm they keep me. Smartwool is soft, not itchy, washes well and fits true to size.
Brands I'd also recommend: North Face (down vest); Vasque Sundowner (hiking boots); Smartwool socks (all kinds)

This shirt is one of my favorites. Light weight and form fitting but not tight. It is unbelievably warm for the light material, breaths well and is very soft. Everything I love. It is perfect for layering. I got one as a gift and 2 weeks later purchased another. I would strongly recommend to a friend.
